Oh Well....

Well we know the site hasnt been down 2 hours just for fun! Guess they are having some problem with their site, or connection to ATT. My ATT is halfway working, but cant get all the way through there also.

Wow I didn't know we had so many site admins on this board?

I already expected it to go down. It's not apple's fault MILLIONS of people from across the globe are trying to hit the site at the same time. Even the highest end web servers would stress out over the number of queries, nor does it make sense to invest in 100k etc worth of servers for a one time event.

Huh? Ever heard of virtualization? Spin up a s#itload of virtual web servers and distributed databases and be done with it. Destroy them when the flood is over. It's not like they would have to buy that many more physical servers to do that.

I was thinking the same thing, all the rumor sites claimed 3am Eastern time but Apple never put up a time or anything. I bet theres a few admins there right now chuckling at the millions of refreshes they're getting

Nope, I called and chatted with multiple apple sales reps that confirmed 3:01 AM, so it wasn't this arbitrary rumor made up.

This reminds me of the South Park episode where the internet goes down. Somewhere a giant router, housed in an underground Apple facility, needs to be cycled.

Sprint just teased me, the page loaded showing iPhones for pre order but it crashed when you tried to select one.

I've got something!!!

Apple.com is up!
