Apple Store London to open November 21

I saw the inside
Walking past (slowly) on Saturday and the doors were wide open to the store. None of the desk's are up yet just lots of cables for lights etc
It is HUGE though. I would estimate that it is the size of "The Grove" and "Third Street" Stores combined.
Can't wait. May try to give my girlfriend the slip so I can stay out all night too.
On the coffee shop/toilet front. Caffe Nero is the closest (and cheapest) just 20 yards from the store in fact if the queue heads towards Piccadilly rather than Oxford Street then you'll be outside the shop anyway.
Behind the store there is a rather nice Park that I'm sure even the ladies could find a secluded spot if the need arises while the shops are shut. Tube should be open till 2am and then again from 5 and Oxford Circus tube does have toilets.
I'll be the one looking like a polar bear if I make it to the campsite.

Face-to-Face retail is all about the customer service. They've got the product and the bricks & mortar isn't that hard if you've got the money. But try and get decent staff. I would bet a pound that getting the staff AND feeling confident that the ones they've choosen aren't going to screw up all the hard work Jobs, Ives et al have put in designing the best product has been the hardest part of breaking in to Europe.
I'm sure that if Apple ever visited either of my local Apple resellers they'd figure out why there's no one using Apple round here. They would both turn me off Apple if I didn't know better and shop with Apple direct.
MPW, is there an Apple reseller on Jersey? I was on Guernsey a few months ago and the one store that sold macs was a complete JOKE! They were very pretentious and wouldn't let me actually touch the display computers. I can see why so few people (on Guernsey at least) would buy a Mac.
Yup, I was there, got the leaflet, it was about the grand opening and had details of how to win the mini, I think the closing date for the form was the 30th, there was also a list of events going on. The Lucky bag was also mentioned, man competition for it is getting tougher and tougher...
Yup! Only Apple has this kind of following 🙂 We are certainly to be seen as mad people...Anyway, maybe no other store has this kind of excitement but i'm pretty sure when Star Wars EP3 comes out there will be some excitement as well...If I remember correctly some dude camped in front of a cinema for 6 months to wait for SW EP1 🙂

We've just had a fire alarm at work (some idiot burnt some toast ... 😡 ) and we all had to troop out to the car park and hang around for 10 minutes until it was decided it was safe to go back. BY 'ECK, IT WAS COLD! My toes still feel chilly, so if you're going to queue up before the opening wear lots of layers and some solid footwear.
Personally I'll be wearing some thermal longjohns from M&S (merino wool mix ... toasty) under my jeans, glove liners and thermal gloves, one of my thermal long sleeved cycling undershirts under a couple of sweatshirts, thermal waterproof socks with a spare pair of liner socks for extra warmth if I need it, thick-soled Redwing work boots, and a wooly hat.

True, if Tesco were giving out free food I'd be tempted as well, but I don't think you would ever see the number of people queuing outside a Tesco that you did for the Apple Store Ginza - just watch this video: http://homepage.mac.com/masanorif/iMovieTheater23.html. As you will see plenty of people will queue outside the store for many many hours of which most of them will get nothing for free whatsoever.

There are two places you can buy Mac's in Jersey that I know of. One is a record shop that seems to have bought a few pBooks with a bulk order of iPods and are selling previous revisions above Apples current prices.
The other calls itself a Computer Centre but I only ever go in there to ask questions I know the answer to for a laugh. They sold my cousin's friend a WinPC with a P3 processor but it was so slow she showed it to my cousin who's in IT she opened the box to find it was a P2 (she kew it would be having checked properties through the sofware) it seems the shop were taking old stock and reboxing it! They presntly have a G3 iBook at about 15% more than AppleStore and make no hint that it's old stock when you enquire in the shop.
Earlier in this thread there is mention of a reseller opening on the 20th called i-Q. I'm sure I've seen this sign going up over a shop but I can't remember where! Hopefully he'll make himself know when he opens. If he knows his stuff and has the stock he could easily clean up with the iMacs this xmas. I'd've been his first customer if I heard of him sooner.

Does anyone know if Apple Stores give educational discount when you buy stuff in person? I'm hoping the London shop will do so I can buy an iPod for a friend (who's nearly 70 and is soon to be my latest, and eldest, Apple convert!).
BTW my girlfriend is an architect who works very close to Regents Street. She had a glimpse at the shop interior and her comment was that they've got an awful lot of work to do to get it finished for the 20th. I'd imagine the contractors are claused up to their eyeballs not to miss the launch date, but I had a funny fantasy of Steve hitting the roof when he finds out it wasn't finished in time, ha ha.

I pass the site almost every day, and to be honest - there's **** loads of work to do...I reckon if the situation doesn't improve this week, apple will make sure that people are working 24/7. This is one launch date Apple just cannot miss - and I know they wont, no matter how much it costs them.
I would NOT like to be the contractors if they don't finish on time!! Don't think there lives would be worth living!!
