OP, go to the store, show them, and explain. Even if you don't care about it, do what I said.

The key here is that someone else could be effected. If they have a guy looking at porn on your computer, think about all the other unprofessional things he could go on to do with other computers.

Tell the manager about this, not because of yourself, but because you care for others.

Sorry, I don't believe you. This is Apple we're talking about. Apple and its employees can do no wrong. That's a fact.

Are you sure you didn't actually take your MBP to the Geek Squad at Best Buy?

This is kind of an embarrassing situation for me as well so I don't know if I'd be comfortable confronting them about it. I guess I just need some time to reflect and hopefully move on.

Dude. Don't be an idiot. You could be saving someone else A LOT of trouble, and you could get free stuff from the manager!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree that you need to talk to someone. What if it was a young kid's laptop? Let alone the grossness factor of the whole thing.

The very fact that you're uncomfortable with your machine as a result of the repair means that you're not 100% satisfied and should absolutely speak to one of the managers of the repair place. You wouldn't have posted if it wasn't bothering you.

Like others in this thread, I'd speak to Apple HQ CS about this as well as the manager of the store. I understand that you're not out to get somebody fired but clearly one of the Apple guy has violated(?) your computer and you have the appropriate proof for it. Timestamped history and the record of your computer checked into Apple is more than enough proof to go forward with this. Apple owes you a formal apology for this, and needs to follow up on the case with you.

Someone mentioned earlier about what if the computer was a kid's computer...and I most certainly agree.

I am not sure exactly what else can be done, apart from reporting this incident back to the store's manager (which you probably should, if only to bring this matter to his attention, if nothing else).

If you are expecting some apology or corrective action to be done, I guess you will get it. An exchange or some freebie as a token of apology...forget about it.

I have a sneaking suspicion this is a made up urban legend type story.

It is possible. I am reminded of an incident in the news a few years back, where this budding actor sent his laptop in for repair. Technician got nosy, snooped around, and found video clips of him having sex with several other prominent starlets and actresses. Naturally, he released them on the internet and caused a rather huge uproar.

There's no telling what they could have done in your absence.

This. Put aside for a moment the fact that it is pretty gross what happened and think about the fact that you're uncomfortable with your machine as a result of it. I think that you definitely should say something to the manager and/or Apple HQ CS and make your key point the fact that now you are uncomfortable with your machine. There is chance that this isn't the first time that this person has done this with a customer's machine and if you don't say speak up it probably won't be the last either. Personally if I found out that something like that had been done on my MBP I would be upset and let them know about it right away.

No, we are not talking about Apple, we're talking about a horny Genius Bar employee.

I would speak up.

If you have solid evidence that this was done whilst your MacBook was in the apple store.

It is amazingly unprofessionally for them.

Imagine, if your partner was to look at your history (for whatever reason), saw porn there, and this caused problems in your relationship.

If the techs at apple had done it, and erased history, then fine, this thread wouldn't even be here!!

wow you believe your partner would be mad at your for watching porn?

also i'd recommend putting a password up and enabling "automatic login" in the security & privacy preferences.

If u looked up the word "fanboy" in the dictionary, this guy's picture would be next to it.

Just curious, why would you be uncomfortable with your laptop just because someone else possibly used it to watch porn?

Now that I have had some time to think about it, I mean yeah, no offense, but you are starting to sound like a whiner. So he used your laptop without your permission, but come on, just clear out your history and move on.

Personally, mine wouldn't be.

BUT, I am 100% sure that there are some people out there that would be mad if his/her partner looked at porn.

My spidey-crap-sense is tingling.

The OPs frequent comedic use of phrases along the lines of:

"I need to go and lay down in a dark room and hopefully this pornography nightmare will pass without further bloodshed"

At the end of posts, leads me to believe he's having a laugh.

I'd talk to the manager as well. If someone just used it for browsing, it's still not professional, but at least not gross. If it was used to view several pages/minutes of porn, you wonder what else that employee was doing.

well, there is nothing really to be done about it, is there? someone touched your computer, and if statistics are any guide, they likely had fecal matter on their hands. in fact, there could be fecal matter all over the inside of the machine as well. sperm is the least of your worries. getting out the csi blue light and trying to find everything may not help.

just telling you the truth here. porn isn't really the issue, is it? if it is, just clear your browser history and move on.

i am pretty ocd myself (i wipe down my keyboard frequently and have spray air next to me right now). but, at some point you have to just let it go and turn off your monkey mind that keeps chattering away about this stuff.

you might want to see a therapist. seriously. it is helpful to talk this kind of stuff over with a professional and get ideas for how you can deal with this.

by the way, the ipad is a much better device for people who lean towards ocd :)
