When taking in your macbook for repair, ALWAYS remove the harddrive first. Really people, this is basic stuff.
As for the keyboard, use bleach...lots of bleach.

umm it's not really difficult to do, a few screws and unplug a ribbon cable. Apple even provides instructions for you.Because the average person would know that, and know how to remove a hard drive?

" I swear ... I did not look at that Web Site, it must have been the technician at Apple when it was in for repair! "
you might want to see a therapist. seriously. it is helpful to talk this kind of stuff over with a professional and get ideas for how you can deal with this.
by the way, the ipad is a much better device for people who lean towards ocd

i didn't say that they would know how to do it, i said that the average person is CAPABLE of doing it!!I'm sure it's not, but you're kidding yourself if you think the average person would know to do this
Now that I have had some time to think about it, I mean yeah, no offense, but you are starting to sound like a whiner. So he used your laptop without your permission, but come on, just clear out your history and move on.
exactly, if the OP is so upset about it, why is he so scared to confront a manager about it? Not like he is the guy who is going to look bad if in fact he can show the history of porn sites while the laptop was in apples possession.something about this story just doesn't feel right. Me thinks, someone got busted looking at porn and developed a theory as to how the porn got on the computer. Starting a thread could be one way of fleshing out the story to give it some more teeth.
If this happened on my computer, I would be back at the Apple store and speak with a manager. I wouldn't procrastinate on this if it was a real issue.
The easy solution is to just ASSUME that people will get up to no good... eventually. Therefore, the preemptive action of removing the hard-drive before handing over your precious hardware for repair will always cover your butt.
It's not just removing your hdd to prevent someone from looking at porn, but what about your personal data. Maybe you don't have stuff on your computer you don't want others peeking around at, but a lot of people have stuff on their computer I'm sure they don't want some random guy to have access to.that just seems like an excessive preventative measure just to prevent something that may occur. I am of the belief that we should expect all people in service to act like responsible adults. When they fall out of line, they should be called out on it and dealt with accordingly to their companies rules.
removing HDs to prevent this seems like we are accepting of bad behavior and we will inconvenience ourselves unjustly accordingly. The thinking should be, the guy at Apple should not be looking at porn on a customers computer, especially knowing that it would be too easy to trace/find who did this. That's why this story just seems so shaky to begin with. Unless if the guy at Apple was totally brain dead, he must have known about internet history and auto complete in address bars.

Sure we SHOULD be able to assume that service people are responsible adults, but would you leave $10k cash in your center console when you drop your car off for an oil change???? Exactly.
You might be surprised. My motorcycle will keep track of the top speed it has reached until you reset it. I got it back from a service once shortly after I had reset it, and found the top speed it had recorded was 129.3 MPH. I didn't put that kind of speed on it, so it had to have been the mechanic during the test ride LOL. I will give him the benefit of the doubt in not knowing that the bike did record that in the trip computer, as not all of them do, but it was kind of funny. I guess it wouldn't have been funny had he wrecked it at that speed, but since it came back OK and everything was fine with it. No harm, no foul
The point being, techs aren't always the brightest of folks <g>
Ducati? Can't think of too many bikes that do this unless you've got a speedo healer. You might be surprised. My motorcycle will keep track of the top speed it has reached until you reset it.
