I've got a good one. No verification. It's not THAT much, but it makes a new ipod 30gb cost $281 vs $299, and the high-end PowerMac is only $3035 vs $3299(?).

you can also use the education discount inthe bottom right of the main page of the store. It takes 10 % off. That brings the ipod 30gb to $260 but with tax it brings the price back to 300 would a spend $300 save $30 still work? If so one would be nice...
 
this is a cool thread. can you use the edu discount and the corporate discount on top of eachother ? that would be sweet! let me know please via pm!

i dont think so, i just bought a black 30gb 5g ipod alittle while ago, just used the edu discount

I dont think they do, but im a college student anyway so I used my college for my discount, i got ID to prove it ;)

I've never heard of anyone getting investigated for being a student but when I WAS a student they'd simply plug in my school information on the P.O.S. machine to get the discount to work. Likewise with the online store you do the same thing. Whether or not they check it out is beyond me.

My guess is that they check on things over a certain amount like Powerbooks and Powermacs. iPods and software probably not so much.

I probably saved close to a grand on my computer, software and accessories during my run as a student, quite a nice company to do that. In return, I'll be buying their computers in the future. Not a bad deal for Apple in return for that 10% discount :)
 
They don't check if your a real educational person. I've cheated the system. But I'm in 8th grade. So I kinda deserve it, but I don't qualify.
 
Refurbished ibook purchase

I am a first timer with Mac and planning to buy an ibook G4 from Apple online store. I saw a link to refurbished apple items where i found an ibook that suits my requirements. But before i take a plung into my first ever refurbished item and first ever mac, i want to know if anybody bought a refurbished ibook from apple and how was the experience. I am not too sure what will be the condition of the item when i recieve it. Apple claims that they ship well tested refurbished items and give all the accessories and software in the box. Well that is expected from apple but wanted to know somebody's personal experience. Primary reason to buy refurbished ibook is that I am saving as much as the cost of an ipod video. Any thoughts......?

After reading how to receive the Apple store coupon, I tried the tricks that were posted. For some reason, Apple has decided they do not like me and I never received my $30 off $300 coupon in my email.
