Hi, I'm in the U.K at the moment and a MacBook I bought from the US is having serious trouble (it's had 5 system crashes in the 2 weeks I've had It!!). 2 questions: Does it matter that I didn't buy the laptop from an apple store if I want an exchange?
Will I have any problems because I didn't buy it in this country?

Good job on that.

I had a little less happy experience trying to return my 2.16 macbook after they announced the new 2.2 models days later. They told me the 14 day exchange program was only online and not in canadian retail stores.

Boy was I pissed off.

I've always had superior help from any of the Apple employees in the store. I had issues with a MacBook a month after purchasing it. First, they replaced it and it did it again. The second time I asked if I could get a MBP and they agreed and gave me a discount!

Um, I'm sorry, but since you didnt buy it from the Apple Store you wont be able to do it. What you can do is get it fixed by calling Apple Care in the U.K the 1 year warrenty is International so It dosen't matter if you bought it in the States. Go on U.K's Apple website and Look under support for their number.
Cheers.
