Here's the view from the front of the Apple Store, looking directly across the street.

It wouldn't surprise me if a lot of Apple customers spend time "testing" the zoom lenses on the cameras Apple has on display.

I wonder if Apple and Victoria's Secret will do any kind of joint marketing, such as co-promoting Panther-print nighties?

Hmmm...That's odd. The Apple Store here in Emeriville California has a Victoria's Secret Store near it. About 1-2 Stores away. Forget Jaguar think Panther undies:D

To answer your question, I will be there Friday with a friend or two. I plan to get my T-shirt and win an iSight camera and an iMac. That should make it worthwhile.

The next Seattle store is going to be out of the way near University of Washington, in the so-called U-District. The current one is in Bellevue which is a few minutes driving from Seattle.

Hey man you should visit! SanFran is a great city, lots of stuff to do, cool people
Hope the store's a hit with the U of Washington crowd. Yeah, Seattle is on my list of cities to get back to. It has been far too many years since I made it up there. Two kids have a way of cutting your travel time short. San Francisco IS a great place! Probably too many great things to do with many far cooler people than me. Funny how locals always take for granted all the things others appreciate. I'm just looking forward to the new Union Square store to help deplete my already thin cash supply.

Well, tomorrow is the store opening in Santa Monica. I hope they get a nice big turnout. I plan to file my official MacRumors report here this weekend, after I recover from the shock of winning all the prizes.

Be glad to help you with that report. I'll post a photojournalism piece on the event at my website afterwards.

Only problem is that I run the site off my cable modem, and Adelphia may get angry with me if there's a lot of traffic (they don't allow servers).

Maybe I'll just post the pictures here...

I would love to see if the new store is different in its format. So if you go and can post some pictures it would be great. I'm trying to find some clues to what are the last two of the twenty new locations Apple has said it will open up in the new year, so if anyone has a solid rumor I'd love to hear it. I posted the first 18 earlier in this thread (from Apple's job listings on monster.com and its own site), if anyone is interested. I'm pretty sure they are all solid. Apple's retail strategy is pretty risky, but I think it can also be an important part of what takes them to a new level in sales. Anyway - whoever is going to Santa Monica or Walnut Creek - enjoy.

Oh holy macrap. I just got back a while ago from the whole excursion, and other than my anger at friends not letting me have a spot in the front of the line, it was nice.

The layout is basically the exact same as the Pasadena store, though I'll admit I didn't spend much time on the inside, having gotten 1/5 as much sleep as I have spent driving in the last two days.

And finally, a surprise visit from scemo!?!?

(OK, I cheated. The photo below is of a store window display down the block from the Apple Store, but I couldn't resist. Sorry, scemo.)

To the moderators: I apologize for making so many posts. I don't know a way to attach multiple photos in one post (other than posting links to photos that are hosted on another server). I picked only the best of my photos and I scaled them way down to keep the page loads from being too slow. If I'm out of line with these posts, please rap my knuckles with a ruler and I'll know better next time.

It was a grand Grand Opening. Everyone I saw there was having a good time. Good night one and all.

Oh, I see the promos for the Rising. At first, I thought some random lady (she didn't have an apple shirt on or anything) was just approaching people at random and took advantage of the fact that there was a huge line of mostly stationary people to get exposure for her band, The Rising, until I realized they were doing the thing with Less Than Jake. Somewhat disappointed, since I didn't get to see the concert, but then, with everyone else's indecision...

Many people think its odd that Apple opens so many stores in the Los Angeles area, within tens of miles of each other. Well, how 'bout one within 10 feet of another? Next door to the new Santa Monica store is a Hennessey and Ingalls art and architecture book store, which has been on the Third Street Promenade for 20 years. But they are moving to a new location in Santa Monica, leaving the Apple store next door to a vacant store about the same size.

As long as Apple has stores all over L.A., I think they should snap up this prime location and open another Apple Store there. We already know it is a good spot for both local and tourist shoppers. Having two Apple Stores, next door to each other, would increase competition. If you don't like Apple's $149 price for an iSight at the Promenade store, you can check if Promenade II has a lower price. And if one store is out of stock on an item you want, what could be more convenient than another potential supply 10 paces away!

(This all seemed like a good idea when I thought of it this morning. But maybe I stayed up too late at the store last night so my brain is still having processor glitches this morning. In any case, we'll see if Apple takes my advice.)

you didnt see us?!
we were with hal lol
anyway, great pics :)
if you have more can you like IM them over to me or something? they look cool.
