Well it's relatively close... the Apple store is about an hour away from my house. I have two problems: (1) I'm not allowed to drive that far, (2) My parents don't necessarily want to drive me that far :(

Wait...you're in the Woodlands...and you're going to go to *Dallas* for the Apple store?!

Take the hour or so and drive south into Houston, there's an Apple store in the Galleria. Very nice, helpful people, and can meet your *every* Apple need. I bought my powerbook from there and they were awesome.

Dallas...that's almost 4 hours *in the opposite direction*. :)

Oooh, I loves me the Houston apple store. They are so nice. :)They're the only apple store I've ever been to and they're so helpful and nice.. :) :)

All of you Texans talking about which city you'd like another store in...

How about just ONE store in the ENTIRE state of Louisiana??!! We have New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Shreveport... but no Apple store to be found.

Apparently the Woodlands store is supposed to be the Flagship store for TX, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. (I read that on.. some apple website. I can't remember it)

There's this empty store about 1.2 miles away from my house. It's been "for rent" for a looong time. Every time I drive/walk by, I tell my mom "hey! I think they're gonna build an Apple store there!"
She just rolls her eyes, but imagine what kind of trouble and fun I'd get into if I had an apple store within walking distance!!
I'd be SO employed.

I live like 5 minutes away from the mall because I live in the Woodlands (am I the only one?). How are we suppose to wait in line in front of the store when the mall opens at 10? Are we going to meet somewhere? Email: jtkellertx@gmail.com

I like the idea of the Woodlands Apple Store, honestly out of all the people I know only 2 people have bought Macintosh computers recently (within 3 years) and everybody else has bought iPods because they got their parents to buy them one.

Flagship store? That would mean SUPRISE BAGS!!!!

It opens at 7 for people to start lining up outside of it. I'll be there in my Apple Camp Tshirt if anyone wants to wait in line with me, haha.

I only HEARD it was a flagship. I'm not sure. At ALL. The website would say, right? It only has the first 1000 people getting shirts.

Oh well. I'm still gonna go at like.. 6:45 AM, wait in the parking lot while eating hasbrowns, and get in line at 7! Rock! I'll be standing around like a loser for three hours, but I'll be a loser with a FREE T SHIRT! AHAHAHAHHAAHHAHA!
MAUAAHAHHAHAHA!

...ok, off to bed now; I've obviously lost my mind.

Not Going - (Also from Fort Worth)

I am not going. No one will make the drive with me and I don't really want to get up that early (3:00am) to make the drive unless they are giving away a pb or something else.

I know it will be fun to hang out with total mac dorks like myself (I get made fun of by my wife, work, friends(3 of whom have switched so far),etc.), I will wait for the Southlake Store (15 min. north of Fort Worth) and the Northpark Store (Dallas) to do that. I hope to see some of you at those openings.

Katie, please post some pics and a rant about the opening, I'm sure it will be fun.

Ryan
Fort Worth

I know this isn't the place for this, but does anyone know if they are keeping the Knox St. store (Dallas) when they open the Northpark store (Dallas). I sure hope they do, but then they would have like three stores within 15 to 20 miles of eachother...Knox St., Willow Bend, and Northpark.

All the more reason they need one in Fort Worth.

I can't believe that there hasn't been a bigger turnout on this thread from the Texas based Applites. Looks like a grand total of 3 ppl will be there, so one of use will get 334 shirts while the other 2 get only 333 ;)

I'm bring a die hard Microsoftie with me, so feel free to try and convert him (I've given up trying).

Maybe you guys could have a group intervention and he could purchase his first mac.

No they're keeping it, so there will be two Apple Stores within 5 minutes of each other once Northpark opens. I too think they need some in Tarrant county. Southlake is a good start, but Arlington would be a good place to put one as well. However, the last word from ifoapplestore.com says though that the next likely D/FW location (after Northpark & Southlake open that is) is going to be at the Dallas Galleria.

Wow, 4 stores in Dallas/Plano. Maybe that is why the lady over apple retail (the one that used to be with Ralph Lauren) left, or was asked to leave. There is absolutely no reason for that, but maybe they want to have a presence in every major mall. It just doesn't seem like something Apple would do.

Shoot, D/FW is still underserved even with 4 or 5 Apple stores compared to some other major metro areas in the country. D/FW could easily support 6-8 stores area wide I believe considering that it's now either the 6th or 7th largest metro area in the entire country depending on who's survey you look at.

Yeah, I agree we need the stores, I just think Apple could do a better job of spreading them out. Arlington, Mid-Cities, Fort Worth, etc. Maybe they will do this, but it looks like they are just putting a store every 5 miles in Dallas. I don't want to complain though, it is nice to have a store within 30 minutes driving distance (Knox st.). Alot of people don't have that.

Ummm... I dunno.

We're meeting at the entrance to the Apple store?

that sounds right.

Does the mall open earlier than the stores themselves? On the Woodlands Mall website the mall itself opens at 10AM unless there is some exception that I don't know about.

What I'm asking is if the mall is locked and we're locked outside, which entrance are we going to meet at? (Hint: There is more than one entrance to get into the mall)

Pretty good chance that it's like any other mall, and it opens it's doors a few hours early, for the mall walkers. So, we should get plenty of funny looks by the power walkers and the grannies :)

Less than 12 hours, and I should be meeting you fine folks down there for some Apple goodness.

I'll be the tall guy with dark hair, listening to his iPod Mini, taking pics with his digital camera and syncing them to his laptop....I just described pretty much any guy that will be there, didn't I? :)

I emailed the manager of the mall and he said 7 AM for the walkers.

ROCK!!!!!
(I've known this for about a week, but just to clarify, ya know?)

Ohh yess... 12:50 until it's open!!

I'll be the 5'7" gal with newly dyed hair, in her orange apple camp Tshirt, taking pics with my digicam, syncing them to my PowerBook...
I'll be female mercury guy, basically. :p
