To get my wife a 5S, I lined up from 7:15 this morning at my local mini SoftBank store in Japan (doors opened at 8). There was two ahead of me in the line (first dude had been lining up since 5:00).
At about 7:30 a sign went up that they only had 5Ss in black.
Another five or so people lined up but at 7:45 the SoftBank man come outside to inform us that they only had three 5Ss. One black 16gb, 32gb and 64gb model.
I really wanted the 64gb model but as I was third in line, I thought I'd have no chance at that. I would have taken the 32bg but no way I was settling for the 16gb. Looks like I would have to reserve one and who knows how long that would take. But then the dude in front said he wanted the 32gb and the second in line said he'd take the 16gb! That guy be crazy! Who wants a 16gb iPhone? Anyway, lucky for me... Well my wife at least.
iPhone 5S GET!

Yes i would like to know the Grove situation.

Just heard back from a TechCrunch journalist that there are roughly 60 people in line at the 3rd St. Promenade store in Santa Monica. No gold or white past the 14th person in line.

Beverly Center and Century City... no idea, but expecting a fairly long line as I passed by at 8PM and there were around 7 people seated at both spots.

Grove is pretty bad always, because it's the flagship store of LA.

Called in earlier today to all 4 stores, and they're expecting less than 6 gold overall (FYI, if anyone is interested in that sort of thing).

Meanwhile, at T-Mobile in downtown Seattle

At the grove in LA and in verizon they have only silver and grey in 32 and 64.

AT&T stock is only space grey in all sizes.

No idea on sprint or tmobile.

How's the line looking at the Grove. Want to go down there soon, but don't have too much time (about an hour or so).

Also, is anybody at Beverly Center, how are the lines there?

Line is about 100 deep right now. Been here since 630am and there were about 200 in front of me.

Got to Apple store near my house at about 630a. I was about 50th in line. They had very few white and gold models, none by the time they came to me. I got 2 space grey 32g. models. There were about 150-200 people total in line, and they all got something, just not the ones that I mentioned. But when I left the store about an hr after launch, they still looked like they had plenty of models left.

Still about 100 at the Grove, too many for me. A bet less at Beverly Center, but I haven't got the time unfortunately

I have a feeling that Apple should have waited another 2 or so weeks to stock pile the white and gold 5S models before introducing them. They would have actually had some sort of stock then.

Saw a fairly long, but orderly line at about 10AM at the Apple store in Lawrenceville, NJ.
