Starting this week, Logitech-owned Jaybird's Freedom Wireless Bluetooth Headphones are available for purchase in two new exclusive colors from the Apple Online Store and Apple retail locations.

Designed to match Apple's line of iPhones, iPads, and Apple Watches, the two exclusive colors include a Space Gray and Rose Gold. The Space Gray Freedom earbuds feature Space Gray highlights on the remote and the earbuds themselves with a black cord and accents, while the Rose Gold earbuds feature a Rose Gold remote and earpieces with a white cord and accents.

Launched earlier this year, the Jaybird Freedom Wireless Bluetooth Headphones have previously been available directly from Jaybird and from third-party retailers in Carbon (black/gray), Gold (gold/white), Blaze (red/silver), and Ocean (blue/silver). The standard colors are not available from Apple Stores.

Jaybird has been designing Bluetooth earbuds since 2007 and the Freedom Wireless Bluetooth Headphones represent the culmination of years of design refinements. The earbuds are the smallest Jaybird has produced yet, thanks to a clever decision to move many of the audio components from the earbuds themselves to the remote control.

Jaybird's earbuds are wireless and connect to devices over Bluetooth, so they're able to work with iPhones, iPads, Apple Watches, Macs, and more. They'll be compatible with the upcoming iPhone 7, which rumors suggest will not have a headphone jack. We went hands-on with the Jaybird earbuds earlier this year and while we loved the comfort, the small size, and the battery life, the large remote was a little difficult to deal with.

The Rose Gold and the Space Gray Jaybird Freedom Wireless Bluetooth Headphones, priced at $199.95, are available starting today from the Apple Online Store and many Apple retail stores.

Jay birds are excellent bluetooth earbuds - primarily targeted to athletes and for use when working out, running, etc. I've used them for years. Sweatproof and excellent battery life.

Strange that Apple is teaming up with them to make custom colours when they own Beats.

I have these and they are outrageously uncomfortable with the battery weight on one side. Don't recommend at all.

Really? Outrageously uncomfortable? The weight of the control/battery on one side is very hard to even notice.

What are your views on comfort and sound quality? REALLY want a pair and now they're available in space grey, makes me want them even more.

I'm pretty stuck in my ways when it comes to headphones. As you can pick up a pair of MDR-7506s for a quarter of this price, which I'd argue has better sound quality than any wireless pair of headphones currently on the market, I'd personally struggle to justify paying the price. But then the MDRs have a headphone cord which could stretch around the Earth twice, so it's not comparable.

For the sake of the consumer, I hope the market for wireless headphones will reduce in price and increase in battery life, seeing as the headphone jack will be a thing of the past in the next iPhone. :)

I tried these and have to echo what was said above and in the Macrumors review: The remote is just too bulky (and it becomes really awkward when you attach the battery clip). If I were in the market for BT headphones, I think I would wait to see if Apple has something up their sleeves when the new iPhone comes out. They usually get at least the ergonomics right.

And on the flip side, this company is a joke. They've been available in the US since May and they still aren't available in the UK.

And in a few weeks, supposedly Apple will have Bluetooth earbuds launched along side the 'iPhone 7.'

In guessing in the same price range.

I wouldn't hold your breath. I'd love for it to happen as they've been working on them for years now but I just feel they'll be released next year alongside the iPhone 8. We'll see. Not long now.

With that skanky cord hanging down around your neck, why even bother going wireless?

Plantronics makes a nice wireless earbud, behind the neck, comfy, rubbery and flexy, 8 hours of battery life so you can finish a marathon on one charge, impossible to tangle, and you can get it for 100 bucks if you shop around.

This just seems like they took the poor, minimalist design of regular earbuds and removed half the cord.

More bands Apple!!! More bands please!! Enough with these marketing color gimmicks. True innovation is what we want.

Don't worry. We will have plenty of Apple Watch bands at the Key Note. And guess what? I plan on purchasing the Apple Watch 2 and at least one of every band they offer that is new. I'm sure they will pair nicely with my first Gen Watch also.

All the More to support the cause and keep forum members like you in check with typical Apple rants.

I find them quite comfortable and very good sound quality. Definitely much better sound quality than cheaper bluetooth sets I've used. I've used them upwards of 3-4 hour runs with heavy sweat and they've never had an issue. I could see how not everyone would find them comfortable though. I have seen people mention they prefer different styles. But for workouts where you can sweat and shake your head without these budging I wouldn't use anything else.

The plantronics you describe sounds like the current Jaybirds X2 and X3. What exactly do you mean by skanky cord hanging around your neck?

Thanks, but no matter how good they are, I can't get them. I'm in the UK.

Did Apple forget the fact that they paid billions for a headphone company a couple of years ago and they don't need another company to make any for them?

Never felt the weight, but I will disagree about their quality. Not sweat proof at all. And the ear sizing pieces were a horrible design. I they kept coming off, and I had to order more from Jaybird at a ridiculous price. After I ordered a set of them I used the headphones for another three weeks before they went kaput from sweat. I know that it was sweat that got them, because I started to lose one of the earpieces for a while before it finally crapped out. It would start cutting out about 15 minutes into my run, as the sweat really got going. For the $200 I paid for these POS I would have expected much more. Never again.

They might not sell directly in the UK but many retailers (online and offline) stock them there.

  1. Because your headphone cord won't get caught constantly on something (which at best yanks them out of your ears but often enough yanks the headphone plug out of your phone which leads to fraying of the cable at that end pretty soon or at worst yanks the phone out of your pocket and drops it to the floor in the process still yanking the plug out of the phone which also furthers the fraying of the cable).
  2. You won't have the plug end of the headphone cable being squeezed into an unhealthy angle in your pocket, which also leads to fraying sooner or later.
  3. You can use your phone without needing a pocket. You can charge it while using headphones and walking around untethered. And you don't have to deal with the cable while using the phone.
Did I mention fraying of the cable? Before I switched to Bluetooth headphones, I had to replace my headphones as often as every three months.

I think they've been saving Beats for the removal of the headphone jack. And now, they have this partnership, which appears to be liquidating stock before the big announcement. Don't want to be caught with the old model on hand. Apple probably asked them to make the custom colors, so they have incentive to help them out before the new wireless standards arrive with the next iPhone.

Must be hard to live with the "always-be-angry-and-its-always-Apple's-fault" syndrome.

This conspiracy theory of "no 3.5mm jack on the iPhone 7" has been going on long enough. If it weren't for vacations, September couldn't come soon enough...
