Apple is planning a major retail store expansion in Latin America, starting with two stores in Mexico City, according to an anonymous tipster who contacted MacRumors. An internal document appears to confirm that Apple is hiring in Mexico City until January 18, but some other details shared below remain unverified.

The tipster claims the first Mexico City store will be located in the upscale Via Santa Fe area of Centro Santa Fe, the largest shopping mall in Latin America, while the second store will allegedly be in a prominent shopping district and adopt Apple's next-generation store design used in Brussels, Cupertino, Dubai and elsewhere.

The second store will also serve as one of 25 "global flagship" stores that Apple is planning, including renovated Fifth Avenue, New York City and Union Square, San Francisco locations, according to the tipster. Apple also allegedly has plans for additional stores in other Mexican cities, including Guadalajara and Monterrey.

Apple's retail expansion in Latin America will also include the first stores in Chile, Peru and Argentina, according to the tipster. These stores will allegedly work closely with the stores in Mexico and elsewhere in Latin America, likely including the company's two existing Brazil stores in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo.

Good news. Apple's move into Latin America has been overdue.

Um, yeah. Every region needs a logistics system, at a minimum to manage inventory efficiently.

So. Mexico and some other random Latin American countries but not Puerto Rico - United States territory? Good job Apple.
I know!! Still leaving us out without a reasonable explanation

Finally, its been reported Mexico is Apple's seventh market, recent early launch waves for products and proper retail stores will do justice to this fact, cheers.

BTW I think the second store in DF its going to be in reforma, but could very well be Masaryk, as someone points out above, we'll see.

Mexico City is one the largest cities in the world and there is a lot of money there so it does make sense that apple would put a store there. There are lots of places that don't have one that have a much larger population the Puerto Rico.

I would have thought that they had one in Mexico already, considering Mexico are usually in the first wave countries for new device releases.

Sadly with the Puerto Rico government debt crisis and high unemployment it's not a growth economy and sales would have likely been poor there for Apple. Mexico on the other hand will be the new China now that wages have risen too much in China.

Considering P.R. is economically in the crapper, its a smart move. Not to mention P.R. is a very small island that probably is smaller than most of the provinces in Mexico and "random" countries.

Pshh, Puerto Ricans always think they're special when they are economically on the lower end of Spanish speaking "countries".

Mexico has 122m people, and middle class is growing fast (and maybe be the first economy of latin america) so makes a lot of sense to start there.

Great!! Now we can finally get rid of the ****** iShops.

i dont think mixup will like that, but with 2 apple stores in mexico d.f. they are going to keep the ishops, the price in both stores should be the same.

ya era hora son bien careros los de mix up.
[doublepost=1452015466,1452015174][/doublepost]I hate those people from mix up. They teated me like crap as if I was gonna steal something and they never let me demo the apple pencil. Unlike, literally every apple store in the world.
