Amazon today has the Apple Studio Display for $1,299.99, down from $1,599.00, which is a match of the all-time low price on the monitor. This is the standard glass version of the Studio Display with the tilt adjustable stand, and Amazon also has a few other models on sale as well.

You can get the standard glass model with the VESA Mount Adapter for $1,299.99, while the tilt- and height-adjustable stand model is available for $1,599.00, down from $1,999.00. Both of these are record low prices on the display.

If you want to upgrade to the nano-texture glass option, Amazon also has this model of the Studio Display on sale. It's available for $1,599.00, down from $1,899.00, which is a second-best price on the Studio Display with nano-texture glass.

The Studio Display features a 27-inch 5K retina display with a 5120 x 2880 resolution and up to 600 nits of brightness. Apple says that the standard display is engineered for "extremely low reflectivity," but for rooms where there is a lot of glare, Apple suggests the nano-texture glass option with even less reflectivity.

ebay has the "refurbished"/mint ones for tilt and height for around $1300, I assume around beginning of the year will be found for around $1000-1100.

I would have jumped and ordered one if it wasn't for the slight and wishful possibility of new displays with tandem layers OLED.
And now that I can also use my Vision Pro as a display, I don't think I need to buy any more displays.

I bought one when it was released and it's been the best monitor I have ever owned. Yes it's expensive, but I find it to be excellent value for money. It integrates beautifully with MacOS.

In fact, I was noodling getting a second one for a while now, and just recently picked up a used one in perfect condition for $1,000. The only downside was that I then had to upgrade my Caldigit TS3 to a TS4 so that I can drive both displays with a single cable. (Fun fact - the Apple Store is cheaper than Amazon for the TS4 dock).

Through the magic of raising iPhone prices, that seems like a good deal on a beautiful monitor.

these sales keep speaking to channel clearing I hope we see a new 5k 120 HDR soon at some event.
I'm not sure we'll see 120Hz for a few more years at 5K. Even with Thunderbolt 4 it's a bit tricky to pull off due to bandwidth limitations. (There are displays on the market that are advertised as 5K which do 120Hz but those are usually ultrawide displays that aren't a full 5K vertical resolution). Apple would have to resort to DSC or other workarounds and I don't know if there are even any 5K panels on the market that support 120Hz.

Thunderbolt 5 will absolutely solve this problem and allow for 5K and 6K at 120Hz, but I doubt Apple is going to release a display that relies on it until most of the product line is refreshed with Thunderbolt 5. It's not known whether the M4 will include TB 5 or not; Apple doesn't advertise the Thunderbolt version on iPads.

This isn't new today, these have been at this price for several days now...I have one in my Amazon shopping list. I also have one on my desk, just waiting for an upgrade or the price to go down before I decide to add a second one to replace my old 30" Apple Cinema Display. It really would be nice if they made a 30" version of this, even with a bit lower DPI, though it's working fine for me with the resolution turned up a bit from the Retina setting so I have more space.

Does the built-in Ethernet adapter gets sometimes disconnected when your Mac goes to sleep?

It happens to me on two MacBook Pros with USB-C hubs with Ethernet ports. I have to unplug the dock and plug it back in.

So tempted to pull the trigger on a Samsung S9, now on sale at Amazon for $850. but If I have to wait until next summer to upgrade my Mac Studio to M4, then I have plenty of time.

Did they fix the camera in these?
Camera is fine for most users, considering it is for video calling. Not great but ok. Most of times I partecipate in video calls, I am one of the best image quality. Low light situation lowers quite a lot the image still.

I've got a dual setup plugged into a MBA, definitely some limiting factors with the monitors having that type of setup but a solid no-fuss setup overall. Bought them off Apple's refurbished website and what was interesting is they only showed one in stock but when I added it to my cart and clicked quantity 2 there was no issue.

Very criticised… still one of the best thin I’ve bought in recent years, 5k retina is perfect, it has so many nice things in a single product. Haters will hate but as a owner I love it.
Agree and while I don't think I could have convinced myself to pay full price there's no monitor on the market that has the convenience capabilities of the ASD plus:

- Glossy or Nano-Texture finish options, most monitors only have matte display which isn't as good as Nano and it's hard to find a glossy monitor let alone one that doesn't have glare control like the ASD.
- 60Hz refresh rate similar to other monitors especially if using dual display. Yes, some monitors are 120Hz or more but you typically have to use HDMI 2.1 which requires a current gen MBP and or similar. Let's be honest, Apple's ProMotion on anything LED/miniLED is a hot mess with response times/ghosting.
- 5K Retina Display allowing the PPI to be higher than most monitors.
- Color Accuracy out of the box is one of the, if not the best.
- Plug-in-Play with Apple devices which cannot be matched by others.
- Acts as charger for MacBook
- Multiple USB-C ports on back
- No PWM for people like me that can't stare at any OLED screen (minus my TV) for more than a few minutes without getting dizzy and nauseous with the new iPad Pro being one of the worst offenders.

I'm sure there's others benefits and cons and like most things Apple there's much more bang for your buck elsewhere but there's something to be said for ecosystem.

these things were this price regularly on amazon like 6 -8 months after launch. I even saw the nano texture one for $1350 last year on amazon for a couple days

Great monitors. Not for the average user. And expensive... again, they're not for the average user. :)
I would consider myself an above average user, definitely not pro status, but not average. I love the studio display. Wish I had the height adjustable, but I don’t NEED height adjustment.
