If you're one of the people like me that keeps getting stuck in restore mode when you attempt to upgrade it looks like a hardware replacement might be needed. Here's a discussion from another thread:

I had my Studio Display go into recovery with its update today, but thankfully it eventually recovered. This process seems downright fraught, what is going on with Apple?

I wonder what's up with these firmware problems. Of course its not very helpful to say "works fine for me!" but mine was down and back to the world of the living in like 3 minutes.

When I got my Series 6 Apple Watch, it came out of the box unable to update its software, it would just refuse to take updates and I had to exchange it. I wonder if this is a similar scenario.

And yet I had people on here get salty when I stated that it seemed to be happening to a good amount of people.

Just checked and it's the update from a few weeks ago. Firmware V 15.5
Hopefully Apple's improving their update engine...
I've got two ASDs and I didn't get the update until I plugged them in one at a time. It didn't see the updates when they were both connected.

My new ASD arrived yesterday. Oddly it was running the original s/w from May. Update process worked flawlessly (after I did a reboot). I left my M2 Air lid closed - not sure if that helps at all.

I have finally joined the ASD owners' club. I originally purchased the tilt-only model but returned it for the height-adjustable stand. I had been planning to use it with a Grovemade display stand, but that put the tilt-only model too high for optimal comfort (although I loved the very small foot that model has). Now that I have the height-adjustable model, I put the foot below the Grovemade stand and it looks like the display is floating above the stand. (I couldn't use a VESA model with my setup.)

Anyway, I really like it. The display area is large enough for my work (attorney), it's razor sharp and very bright, the audio quality is excellent (so much so that I may not need to purchase the desktop speakers I planned to use with it), and the camera is -- well, you all know, but it's good enough for my Zoom calls and it's nice to have it built in. For me, it triangulates attributes quite well -- it's not like anything else out there but does everything I need it to and with a huge amount of desktop style.

Like everyone, I'm annoyed by the pricing of the height-adjustable stand. I love it, but I felt like I was letting myself be fleeced by Apple. Still, I'm happy with the end result and plan to stick with this display for a while.

My wife bought a new MacStudio and Apple Studio Display and so far loves both of them - but, we've found a weird glitch with the ASD that we were wondering if anyone else has experienced.

Simply put, the display won't "sleep" according to the Screensaver preferences.

The issue seems to be related to something software wise she's running (possibly Dropbox), but as when she does see the display go dark, the external, drive with Dropbox on it flashes for a moment and the displays kick in again. End result, displays stay on all night (but with screensaver activated).

When I log in to her MacStudio, this doesn't happen - but I don't use Dropbox.

The reason I'm mentioning it here in this thread is that when she had her 5K LG as the only monitor, this behaviour did NOT happen. It's only with the dual display where one of the displays is the Apple Studio Display that the display never sleeps.

We haven't had the time to disconnect the LG to see if it sleeps with JUST the ASD.

For the moment, she has to log out of her account every night, which does permit things to sleep.

Just curious if anyone else with an ASD has had this issue...

I received my ASD from Costco today for my home, hooked it up, and am very pleased. The tilt-only display is at a good height for me, the fonts are excellent (I mostly do research and writing), the speakers are all that everyone said they are . . . I'm satisfied. It's an excellent display.

I have the budget LG 24" 4K in my office, and there is no comparison between it and the ASD, as well there ought not be. Once I came to terms with the price and what alternatives there are, I bit the bullet and ordered. This display should serve me well for many years. No regrets.

Strange. You've set a reasonable display sleep timeout and even after that has elapsed it won't sleep?

I'm using a "hot corner" to sleep the displays and that has worked correctly so far (Mac Studio + 2 * ASD + LG 4k), but I don't use Dropbox either, so maybe that is indeed related.

Your wife could temporarily disable Dropbox and re-check if that changes anything.

I have a MBP with the ASD and run the official Dropbox client on my machine, and I've never noticed this particular issue.

But I don't have Dropbox bound to an external drive, and I have a key bound to locking the screen (which usually puts the display asleep immediately). Does this happen if she chooses to Lock Screen (under the apple logo), or only if it would naturally happen due to the screensaver running?

I use DropBox and don't have this issue. Not sure if they're directly related or not. Could be some other software or possibly there's a hidden setting in DropBox

Anyone with the Apple Studio Display that has been using Microsoft Teams on a daily basis? How's your experience with it? Currently waiting mine to arrive.. Looks like December at the time being.

Works great. I use the camera every time but I have a Jabra headset so I never use the speakers/mic for Teams calls. The center stage is nice as well because it tracks me as I move around the desk. Camera looks fine, it's not as good as the one in the MacBook Pro 14" but it looks equal or better than all my colleagues in the same call using Windows laptops.

Also using it with MS TEams every day for hours! Works perfect. I am using the cam, mic and speakers of the ASD. Not using center stage though.
Mic and speakers are great and the webcam qualitiy is more then enough for teams calls. And as @BSoares said, the picture quality is better than the cams of most of my colleagues.

Only for some male voices the sound has a bit too much bass for my taste.

I am really super happy with my ASD

Is anyone else rocking a 4K side monitor on their daily working days with the ASD?

Thanks for the feedback you guys! I also have the AirPods Max but wanted to avoid using headphones during long periods of time and having access to the ASD speakers and Mic would be great. Looking forward to test it out once it returns.

Today I went to the office (hadn’t been there in a year) and used my Dell 3818 UW. Omg, it looks like crap compared to the ASD. The text is a lot blurrier and the color is cooler. I guess the color I could adjust but can’t make the text better using native resolution.

2 ASD, 2 4k side monitors.

I have an LG 38WN95C now, and thinking about picking up an ASD as a replacement. Do you miss the extra real estate from your Dell?

ASD in the center, 27” 4K Dell U2720Q to the right, 24” 4K LG 24UD58-B (vertical) to the left.

Waiting for the mini-LED ProMotion ASD sequel instead of getting a second one.

The extra real state and curve can be nice but I am enjoying running 3 mains apps as full screen and just swiping with 2 fingers to switch between them. So it’s like having 3 monitors (plus the laptop next to it). Keeps it more organized too. This won’t work for people that need to see multiple apps at once but for me it’s fine. I have Teams, Safari, and Outlook as their own full screen desktop.
