Isn't the shipper responsible for ensuring delivery? Meaning if it doesn't show up the shipper files the claims. Apple should have all the information including who signed and work with FedEx. I would also expect them after submitting the proper paperwork to send a replacement phone (I have high expectations of Apple because they usually do the right thing). :)

OP: I assume you restored as new to un-JB to see if that returned functionality. Moot at this point but curious.

How did you package the phone? You didn't pay for insurance? It's literally $0.50 for every $100 of declared value or something very reasonable. Then you wouldn't be in this situation. I'm sorry your one experience compared to the many millions of other positive experiences has tainted your attitude but it seems like this is partially your fault.

At the MOST, FedEx will pay you $100 for any damages unless you paid for more insurance. There is also no proof of delivery as far as a signature goes unless you paid for that!

Sounds like it is just a bad deal. How did you pack your phone as I have not had anything harmed by FedEx and I ship a LOT of stuff.

I smell fish...
Apple should be able to provide you a tracking number for the return package, or else check the system to see when it was delivered, etc. Did you ask for a manager?

I thought the same thing. OP, I'm sorry if you are telling the truth and I am wrongly accusing you, but I find it very hard to believe that so many things can go wrong at once. Also whenever things I have sent things to or from Apple there has ALWAYS been a tracking number provided. Also the package Apple provided should have included enough packaging for the phone to protect the phone during shipping (bubblewrap etc.) so I find this story even more hard to believe.

I'm not saying Apple are perfect or are right every time, it's just the OP's story has some inconsistencies with the way, I've noticed, Apple actually operates.

How did you package the phone when you shipped it to Apple? If you used the retail packaging then there is no way that the phone could have been damaged during shipping.

Judging by the complete absenteeism of the OP, I am wondering whether this was a troll or not.

As most people here are saying that is what tracking order numbers are for. Someone on either end should be able to pony up that information.
