Take responsibility for your own actions. Obviously one of the many who don't think their actions are their fault. Hopefully he doesn't win. This goes hand in hand with winning a lawsuit because your hot coffee burned you when you spilled it.

Correct.

The public roads aren't your instant messenger service.

So if I missed that last few minutes of my family member before they died because I didn't get the call, thats acceptable to you? I am calling BS. Unless you don't have a heart and don't care about anyone but yourself. We are not talking about texting, we are talking about all forms of communication, including phone calls.

The proposed patent would determine whether you're driver or passenger based on your surroundings.

In a new lawsuit, the plaintiff alleges that Apple put profit before safety by enticing their precious child to lean into the passenger's seat while driving to activate their phone.

There is an endless stream of dumb things we can do in a car that will get us or others killed: Eat, drive drunk, drive baked on legalized marijuana, even just talking is a proven distraction. You make choices. Make the right ones.

The plaintiff (or their family) had a choice. They could have not used the phone. They could have purchased a car with AirPlay. They had options.

A few years ago in stop-and-go freeway traffic, I was rear-ended by a woman applying makeup while driving. At the time, I was irritated at her negligence. Of course, I was young and stupid--Ceja has enlightened me that I should assign blame where due.

While I now understand the driver was not to blame, I am unclear whether the makeup company is responsible for not having a feature to prevent its use while driving or whether it is Nissan whose complete disregard for social responsibility led it to omit a safety feature that would prevent operation while applying makeup.

PLEASE, Mr. Ceja, enlighten us who is to blame for the poor women's accident. Perhaps both the makeup company and the auto manufacturer since neither company included in their advertising "please don't apply makeup while driving?"

Wait a minute--the supplier to the makeup company should have never sold its product to a company it knew was selling makeup without sufficient safety features! Now my head just hurts.

Correct.

What did people do before they had cell phones?

You're going to have to decide if your comfort is worth more than saving other peoples lives.

Yes yes. And while we're at it lets sue Budweiser for drinking and driving. LOL Jesus. This guy needs to get a life. And if Apple implements such a feature without a way to disable it then I'm just gonna abandon the platform. Plain and simple.

I don't think you'll get much logic from what appears to be a troll. If you look through the last few pages, a previous comment they made states that any phone in motion should be completely disabled.

That's clearly ridiculous to the point of absurdity. You're being trolled.

Cell phones have been around for a long time, before that, there were pagers. There were forms of communication. But I am done with you. You are a heartless troll.

Yep and I am now done with it.

Wow, americans need to be babied like this? Just put the damn phone down and use it when you're at your destination. Not hard.

Apparently American's do need babied. When I drive on the highway I glance at every driver I pass (I'm usually in the top 10% of fastest drivers)... I'd guesstimate 1 out of 5 cars some idiot has the phone up high in front of their face while driving. South Florida for you. I imagine it's the same in other burb like areas around the country. I'm AMAZED there are not more accidents than there are currently.

For **** sakes, when the hell did personal responsibility go out the window

if you know driving while texting is bad. DONT DO IT. you don't need Apple to lock you out.

How stupid. Stupid people with stupid lawsuits.

What would he have done if someone rear-ended him while they were eating a burger? Sue In-N-Out?

Unfortunately, you're the one that feels it's OK to have other innocent people die because you want the comfort of instant messaging.

Who's the selfish one now?

Unbelievable. I have never once said I want drivers to text. I said I want train and bus passengers to be able to use their phones. And if there is an emergency, a driver should be able to talk on the phone. Goodbye.

Yeah because forcing passengers to not have any access to their phones because you don't think they "Need it" isn't selfish at all right?

I would like to sue all the auto makers for giving us cars. Because my horse would safely stop for me while I'm texting and riding.

The highway fatality rate has actually INCREASED because of cell phones.

The people against this idea have literally never seen Americans drive.

You see all sorts of stories of people crashing and killing multiple other people because of texting and driving.

The sad thing is this is exactly how some attorneys think. I rarely get irritated by news stories but this driver nanny crap makes my blood boil. We should be focused on automating the driving experience all together. People are bound to be distracted by any number of things and that's what allows for accidents to happen.

... Or they/you can do like what we all did in the old days and still do... look outside, read a book, play games ..... *gasp* talk.
But you can't read a book or play a game if everything you own is digital and on your phone

Great. Glad to know that you think it's OK to kill other innocent people because you want to be able to text in a car, whether you're the driver or passenger.

It's as if people are so addicted to their cell phones that they can't even NOT use it while riding in a car.

Drunk driving causes 3x more fatalities a year than texting and driving. Clearly thats the bigger issue.

(This does not account for your logical fallacy that you failed to consider).
