I love macs and run a company that has used them heavily for 20 years, but I love the taste of their own medicine aspect of thin. Apple would never sue for commercial advantage would they.

Apple has done so much damage to their brand lately they need to get slapped around in the hope it wakes them up ad stops them from self-destructing. They are on the verge of becoming completely uncool

Anyway, that for the link to Tiger Direct. I went there and showed my feelings by buying a bunch of stuff. They are my new heros

You're new hero is a company that acts like a 3-year old child complaining because they aren't being treated fairly when in actuallity there is nothing unfair about this? I would have to say that your point of view on life is extremely narrow and pathetic. I'm almost afraid to ask who your "old" hero was. Could it be the lady who sued Wendy's for the finger in her chili? If i read the news correctly isn't she being investigated? Hmmm, maybe we should tell the government that TigerDirect may have something illegal going on that they are trying to hide.

Here is what a certain tiger has to say on the subject....

Tiger Mart

I stopped into an Exxon gas station and went into their "Tiger Mart". I was so expecting to come out with a computer from Tiger Direct. I think they should sue Exxon too because I was really confused when all they had were car air-fresheners and Doritos.

TOO FUNNY

No it was the lady who sued McDonalds for spilling coffee on herself.

No it was that computer company that sued some guy in england for his I-whatever domain, and then sued to erode freedom of information and corporate oversite, then threws a tantrum and punished innocent authors who supported their products. I'd say suing to reduce civil liberties and freedom of information in the interest of private gain and corporate thuggery is the definition of insanely uncool (and stupid) As is book banning

this is really funny:

oh yea

That company has also sued or threatened to sue to prevent other companies from using ANY fruit name. It claims to own not just apples but a whole food group. It would be like TigerDirect sueing Cat tractor. What goes around comes around. And it is funny when it does

In a related story, Tiger Woods is also suing Tiger Direct...Just like Spike Lee sued Spike TV and lost, this is a waste of time for lawyers...LAWYERS SUCK.

Unscrupulous Company

Even before this I was at war with TigerDirect. If they go to court, it should me in manacles on the other side of the aisle. As an earlier member remarked, look up their record on rebates. I have spent about $500 worth of my time fighting over a $40 rebate which was approved, just because I'm so damned stubborn. They acknowledge I'm owed it, they just won't send it. If you're interested, I have two posts at fatwallet.com under MacEducator, and there are several other TD customer remarks there as well:

Not sending promised rebates is tantamount to theft, in my opinion. The fact that they can get away with it is also an indictment of our regulatory system (however, I have a list of several I am filing complaints with). This Tiger suit is just a match on my gasoline. I promised them recently that I would post on every consumer and computer forum I can find (as I am now). If you know of any, I would appreciate it.

This is ridiculous, alright. But I wouldn't say that lawyers suck. That's akin to saying surgeons suck in response to a story about leaving a scalpel in a patient. If I were to make a wager, I'd bet that the lawyers didn't call Tiger Direct an suggest this, it sounds like a marketing dept type of plan.
You can't really attack all lawyers because they do what their clients want them to do, can you? It's not their job to say right and wrong, the only question they consider is 'does my client have a case.' And while this is basically frivolous, and if I had went down the attorney path, I would have suggested that they not pursue a suit like this, sometimes clients are just bull-headed.

PS-not a lawyer

Tiger (Direct) Sucks

Mr. Amato,

While I recognize that you may not care at all about who I am or what I have to say, I am one of your loyal customers. I shop regularly at your Miami store because I live blocks away from it as well as your headquarters. I will still attempt to communicate my thoughts to you in hopes that you will listen.

I am shocked and dismayed that Tiger Direct has chosen to sue Apple Computer for the use of the name "Tiger" on its latest release of their operating system. This release from Apple computer was made public several months ago, if not longer. It seems strange that on the day before the release of the world's most advanced operating system that your company chooses to sue Apple Computer for trademark infringement. It comes off to your customers and the public as if Tiger Direct is attempting to garner attention from Apple Computer. Furthermore, while I am no lawyer by any means, it seems to me that this lawsuit should have been placed long ago when the name of the new OS was first made public.

It saddens me to say that while I am a fan of Tiger Direct, I am a bigger fan of Apple Computer. I do not feel comfortable continuing to give my business to a company that operates the way that yours does. I feel I am being forced to shop elsewhere.

Sincerely,

One of your former customers.

OK, I'll admit that I skipped the first seven pages of posts. I just wanted to point out that for the first time in recent history, hardcore PC gamers around the internet are taking Apple's side on any issue simply because Tiger Direct is an awful company. I made the mistake of ordering my motherboard (Asus K8V Deluxe) from them because it was being replaced by the "SE" version to cut costs and almost everyone else (other than Tiger) had sold the originals out. Tiger sent me an SE, trying to charge me full price. I sent it back, and it took them 6 weeks (and many, many! phone calls) to discover that they didn't carry my motherboard at all anymore. Twice I was told that they'd shipped the right motherboard, and twice it turned out to be a clerical error. In the end, I got a refund and got a different mobo from Newegg.

BS

If they were seriously worried about their name they'd have done this long ago.. it's not like Apple kept their planed nickname for the OS from anyone.
