Love the confidence that you’ll be having midterms. The Lump can postpone them in an ‘Emergency’

I know that the Republican Congressmen losing their seats isn’t an emergency but it will be enough not to oppose him calling one.

We're going to have elections, put the tin foil hat back in the drawer. Neither side is gonna cancel elections.

Just a tax increase. Gotta pay down that deficit somehow. If not this then it’s income taxes.

Neither party is serious about the budget deficit or federal debt. They don't care one iota, short of people like Thomas Massie, Mike Lee, and Rand Paul. For the most part, the rest of them are just spouting words that don't mean anything. They will spend and spend some more.

This reads like a Pegatron ad. Essentially, our competitors may stop production but here at Pegatron we’re full speed ahead for our customers. Nice work by Pegatron’s marketing team.

North America could hold some more people, but the xenophobes, who happen to be the same people supporting Trump's foolishness, don't want to accept people with too much melanin in their skin.

That's just false and little more than a talking point. This is an extremely welcoming nation to immigrants and immigrants here fare very well and contribute to our economy. All people want is for the people that immigrate here to do it legally, be vetted, and be able to come here without having dependency on government. This is an 80/20 issue in America and very few people care one iota about the race of immigrant. Disagreement with open borders is not a "racial" issue, in fact, a whole bunch of people from white countries entered illegally during the last four years.

Not sure what you were reading, but I saw someone saying that the US situation is uncertain, but their long term plans are unaltered because of the rest of the world not being as dumb as Trump. I think they expect (or are hoping) that cooler heads, somewhere, with some access to Trumps ear, will prevail.

Despite the challenges, Tung said that Pegatron won't alter its long-term manufacturing plans based on short-term tariff fluctuations.

"Just because Trump raises tariffs doesn't mean the rest of the world will do the same. Taiwanese contract manufacturers are sticking to their overseas plans," he said. "We won't immediately adjust our long-term plans just because of two or three months of tariff changes."

All our Apple stuff that we use is up pretty up to date. Not spending a DIME. Trump and his cohorts are going to cause some serious hardship soon. Unless he backs off, but by then it may be too late.

The craziest thing about this crisis is that it is completely manufactured. No one attacked the US, nothing exploded, there wasn't a new global pandemic. Just a bunch of fools who don't know what they're doing running rampant like bulls in a china shop. There was absolutely no need for any of this.

It's the narcissim.

Trump doesn't care if anything is objectively good or bad for anyone but himself.

He's fine financially - he's busy harvesting bribe money through crypto and other "access/favor" donations.

If things tank he'll scream and shout and blame everyone but him.
He'll blame Biden, he'll blame woke-ism, he'll blame "FAKE NEWS MEDIA".

The only guiding principle he has is: "Is the attention on me?"
Literally, this is who he's always been.

Those of us who remember him in the 80's have always known this.

The most embarrassing part of all this is how many people have fallen into his cult of personality.

Despite all the things that have gone horribly wrong, let's not forget what Trump has accomplished

Sure it is. Do you want the radicalness of the Democrats who are owned by their far-left populists who have their own bad economic and social policy positions or do you want the protectionist Trump and his allies who want to pretend it's 1952 and we're going to manufacture everything. We cannot be an autarky, it doesn't work that way.

They both suck, both are controlled by their populists who are out of touch with reality.
That's nonsense. Democrats are currently a center left party at worst. Center right by some measures. Simply calling both sides "radical" isn't an argument.

More BS fear tactics. But people will never change. They’ll hoard anything if someone scares them enough.

China isn’t doing well. They’ll work out a deal.
You are forgetting that we have run this experiment. Eight years ago Trump tried a trade war with China. By any and every measure Trump and the US lost. China came out stronger and more respected, the world was more willing to deal with them, and the US was weaker, with fewer allies. China thinks in terms of centuries to millennia, not this quarter. They have no reason to deal.

There’s an old line about the definition of insanity is to repeat the same experiment and expect different results. the US lost last time, badly and it is already losing this time.

It's absolutely an argument and a correct one since the Overton Window has moved substantially leftwards. Go talk to the activists that are in the streets or at the Bernie rallies and want AOC to be the next president. The Democrats cost themselves the election because they couldn't stop the crazies and independents that went for Biden in 20 went for Trump in 24. All your side had to do was tell the crazies to shut up, govern from the middle and you'd have won. By any objective measurement, the Democrats in the post-Clinton era have lurched far to the left, except when it comes to use of military power, and there, they mimic neo-cons.

Both sides suck so bad right now. This is a horrible era of politics.

Most I know are grumbling but somehow expect Trump to fix it all and dicc it sometime, we just need to 'give him a chance." They aren't dumb people, just have bought into Trump and hate Democrats.

Yes, yes they are. Only complete idiots buy into it. They (his MAGA base primarily) can't even put together a coherent sentence about why they hate democrats.
There will be midterms.

And make no mistake, if Trump runs for a 3rd term, he likely wouldn't make the ballot due to ineligibility. People couldn't vote for him and neither could the electoral college.

States run elections and send electors.
Trump is not joking. Just listen to Steve Bannon, the wheels have been in motion for a long time. He doesn't need to be elected president. He can be a running mate to someone and serve as VP. The puppet president resigns, boom, Trump has his 3rd term. Anyone who doesn't take this seriously should.

I’m not too worried, because the Constitution also says that no one who is ineligible to be President can be Vice-President. Trump is ineligible to be President after this term, thankfully, so he can’t be Vice-President either.

First off, there’s no denying that the US has an absolutely monstrous national debt. But let’s be real—this isn’t exactly news. Since decades, people have been freaking out about how outrageously high it is, comparing it to everything under the sun.

And sure, the inefficiency of public administration is a problem too, but it’s always been there—and it’s never stopped America from being, you know, the world’s undisputed economic powerhouse.

Here’s the kicker with Trump: he’s out here claiming he can fix all these issues. That’s not just delusional—it’s downright arrogant and totally out of touch. Even if he wanted to make a change, his methods (tariffs and DODGE) are so scattershot that they’re never going to work. They’re a joke.
And the world either laughs or cries at such a shabby stage play.

Let’s talk about the arms trade for a second. The US has made a killing off of arms sales—because, let’s face it, not just Israel, but all of Europe’s been handing over really big cash to American defense contractors. Right now? It’s about $100++ billion these last days.

And what’s Trump doing in all of this? He’s stoking hatred and ignorance among everyday Americans by painting Europeans as freeloaders.

The guy plays a sinister troublemaker who tries to terrify the world into submission, plain and simple. He’s trashing alliances that have been hugely beneficial to the US and spinning it in a way that sounds like it’s beneficial to the average American, but it’s just pure manipulation. He’s destroying the relationship between Europe and America like a person who’s sabotaging a perfectly good marriage with lies. And no, you can’t undo that damage once it’s done.

Once upon a time, the US was this beacon of innovation, a place where ideas competed and flourished. It was a magnet for the best and brightest. Now, thanks to one guy, America’s reputation is in tatters. It’s mind-boggling how slow his MAGA groupies are to be ashamed and admit they were wrong.

The defocusing with national debt that used to work?? Yeah, that’s becoming a real problem now. If the amused threatened China decides to dump its US bonds all and everywhere at once, it's game over - the US would be hard broke. And that's not a hypothesis, it's the harsh reality.

The thing is, Trump seems too short-sighted to get it. The world let the US run a money-printing machine for decades, but now there’s a price to pay.

If America wants to keep that power, it has to actively strengthen alliances (support NATO) and stop isolating itself like a failed empire.

Other leaders tried that before, and all they did was drag the whole world into chaos.
I can only hope that America wakes up before it’s too late. And that it punishes the guy who’s seducing it into the grave—so it’s a cautionary tale, like Hitler, forever.

Everyone who loves America, Republican or Democrat or anyone else, should finally hold hands with each other here and stop being driven apart in the demagogue game. I'm dreaming? Well, good night then!

That's assuming the 12th amendment is even acknowledged by 2028. There's no rule preventing him from running for a House seat, or becoming Speaker, and then president, I don't think.
