Demand will obviously take a bit of a hit. Who knows how much. Keep in mind, a lot of people probably don't think of iPhones as big ticket items, but rather easy payments of ~$40 per month.

this is not a good sign for Apple if China has to re close all it's movie theaters again.
It means they are still having trouble containing the virus.

Not a good sign to reopen a large iPhone factory where infections can start all over again.

Where are all the people who wanted to move iPhone production to the U.S. to avoid supply 'interruptions'?

Where you bishes at? Why y'all crickets all of a sudden? Did y'all forget how to represent?

Shiiiieeet... 😂🤣😂🤣😂
You missed post #9...

PS What’s with the weird imitation boomer trying to do a fake 90’s street dialect? That’s just... weird 🤯

I have the newest and greatest iPhone ever and already talking about devaluing my phone it’s disgusting. Change To a 2 year cycle you toxic mobile industry destroying our Mother Earth with crappy products!

And that would change what??? An iPhone11 wouldn't sell at full price in 2021, only with lots of rebates hence devaluing yours. And when in late 2021 the 12 would be released the feature gap to the now 2 year old 11 would be massive forcing bigger discounts.

-> 2 year old iPhone would have devalued just as much as it does under the current yearly release cycle.

Or you just keep your phone till it becomes an actual issue and replace it with something much better (which you keep using for the next 5 years).

Bought an Xr when it came out, nothing in the 11(Pro) that I would really need, doubt it will be different for the 12, 12Pro, 12S, 12SPro, 14.....

I love Apple’s products, and I’m planning to buy the 12, but let’s be honest: in this times people don’t need a $999+ smartphone. Hopefully by September the emergency will be over, but economic consequences will last years.

In Europe, that’s where I live, people are to stay at home. Meanwhile it’s business as usual - actually, work has reached quite another level of urgency, stress and workload (I’m a software developer and IT consultant). Next to my macbook pro, guess what my #1 tool is: my iPhone SE. It definitely is due for replacement, I’d buy the 9/SE2 instantaneously.

Same, working more than usual, from home, taking a 90 minute lunch break to cook properly, eating while watching some show and keeping in touch with my loved ones. Ordered the second battery for my iPhone SE yesterday because the current one is down to 61% health and it's really showing. It still has peak performance capability though.

I figured I won't be having any outdoors adventures where a better camera would make a difference and if the iPhone 9 does come out in the near future, I'll have a very fresh iPhone SE to pass along. Or I'll just keep it in the car as a dedicated Carplay device...

So glad my standards have dropped, cause my iPhone X is as good of a phone as any for me. Don’t plan on upgrading until this thing breaks or Apple stops updating.

I want my next iPhone made in the USA and I am willing to pay a higher price for it.
I'm absolutely not willing to pay more for an iPhone made in the USA. I'm not even willing to pay more for an iPhone made in the UK.

20% unemployment is ridiculous and things have to get A LOT worse for that to play out. Piling up bodies? There are a few bad places, but the 80,000 Americans that died from the flu in 2018 still means this has a long way to go. Let's chill for a bit before sounding more alarm bells.
Death rates are doubling every 3 days. 80,000 Americans dying is not far away if nothing is done. About 18 days.

It’s really hard to justify any big ticket purchases or non-essentials in these economic circumstances and wallets will tighten throughout this and quite possibly into next year. Demand will undoubtedly take a hit.

Ditto. But at least a new model of iPhone will be launched this fall. Demand will be lower, but not zero.
I wonder if they’ll change their price strategy. I’m sure some people will still be able to afford the Pro, but what about the successor of 11?

As some said, folks are not giving up their smart phones.

BUT - with all that is going on, many will realize they do just fine with their older phones and can not afford to keep buying the latest shiny phone. Apple services will do well, not so sure about new phones.

I gotta be honest. No one need a barely updated new iPhone this year.

Bring out a better bigger release for 2021 when we all survived and have jobs again

I wish manufacturers moved away from China. Why are we still feeding their economy while they try to destroy western economies?

It’s a trade of capitalism to always aim for the cheapest production possible while keeping up the scale.

tbh I dont really see a huge decrease of iPhone demand in 2020. Maybe a bit, but not much.
The two year contracts will still be taken out no matter what. Other puchases will simply be postphoned to summer / fall 2020.
Fall 2020 for the “all clear”? Have you read the history of the 1918 Pandemic?

If you don't build it, no one can buy so why are suppliers worried? Everyone wants to get back to normalcy too and we will.

I agree, you hit the nail on the head. In addition, since China has the largest population, there are plenty of people to employ for all of the manufacturers there.
