At least I can make Genius appointments from my phone again! I just have to open a separate app from the Apple Store app!

Seriously, why did they have to make a separate app for this?

I spent way too long trying to schedule a genius bar appointment in the Apple Store app as well the other day. No idea they removed that feature. Pretty dumb to have 2 separate apps imo. Just make a new tab in the Apple Store app that says 'Support.'

Not all of us can stand chugging the kool-aid for that long. You'll tire of it too.

I guess I should have disclosed that message was sent from my Google Pixel. The phone that replaced my 7 Plus, at least for now. Still doesn't change my thoughts on that post. Every comment here on every article is negative lately.

they're not really negative, but when the news stories in order are "Apple pulls watch update because it bricks watches" and "Apple releases support app for iOS", how is that not the first thing we all think? As humans we like to connect things, and the potential link here is so obvious it's practically comical! Which is I think what a lot of commenters are going for, the timing is just too perfect.

On another note, this forum's software is weird on Windows Phone. Backspaces queue up so you hold it down a bit and delete way more than intended.

Okay. I just ran the battery diagnosis and when completed it went to support options. Where can I see the diagnosis results? Have iP6S. Also, the S/N for this device falls in the current Apple battery replacement campaign.

I just did the same. I think you have to chat to get the results. Ill let you know

How about letting me run that diagnostics software that seems only Apple Store employees have access to? The information I've seen come from that software could help me solve my own problems without having to search a knowledge base.

I think I might use it now. My iPhone 6 is having some odd battery behaviors. I'll update this post when I'm done.

EDIT: Good News Everyone! The App works perfectly. The Bad News is that they said my iPhone's diagnostics determines that it does indeed need a battery replacement.
You mean good news, right?

It means they will take care of it instead of telling you it must be your usage behavior even when you didn't change it much at all.

Unless you're not covered by warranty anymore, in that case it sucks that they will have you pay dearly.

I really gotta stop reading the comments on this website. It's nothing but negative whiners haha. Somehow this app being released is Apple admitting that they are terrible and are doomed and just not the same since Steve died. Man, it's so far from the average person's perception it isn't even funny. Just a cesspool of negativity.
These days you don't need to read the comments on Macrumours to realise there is something seriously wrong in the world of Apple. Almost everywhere you look online, when it comes to news about Apple, people are making similar comments.

Are the comments NEGATIVE because Apple has lost their vision? YES.

A bunch of people being unhappy about something online doesn't necessarily mean much more than some people being unhappy (for all kinds of reasons) and even some others just joining in to push buttons more than anything else.

I dunno, I kind of like it. When something is going wrong, and instead of trying to help they try to sell you something (looking at you, Comcast tech support!), it annoys me. Opening up the Store app for support and the first thing you see is an attempt to sell you the very thing that isn't working right can make the customer angry.

Is the existence of a tech support app (which, for the most part, emulates the existing tech support web site) proof that Apple's products are getting worse?

Here's another hypothesis: Apple's trying to increase customer satisfaction and reduce its tech support costs.

If a company makes it easier for its customers to self-solve, and/or if it reduces the length of support calls by gathering product/user info prior to the call... Fewer/shorter phone calls, fewer visits to the Genius Bar = happier customers, reduced waiting times to get support and/or reduced staffing costs.

No warranty. Good service though. They confirmed my suspicions of a battery problem.

Maybe it's time for the moderators to start moderating consistent negativity...
