are book readers that big???

No but books and paper publishing are, and for the time being are not being consumed electronicaly, the technology is there Why not just download your paperbacks like you do with music?, Actually I can think of many reasons mainly to do copyright, and the power of the existing paper publishing industry.
But
For news papers and periodicals, i buy fewer these days because i look on the internet, As i understand it this is not proving as lucrative and some news papers are considering a subscription model again, I believe there is an opportunity. i tunes does present a subscription delivery model, hooked into 3G just read your Paper-back or news paper or whatever on the same device down loaded direct at point of sale or overnight by subscription?

But I like books! Nothing can replace the feel and smell of a great and beautiful real book! When I read a book I want to get away from technology for while and get that feeling of another place. Can't have that with a beeping iPhone/Tablet whatever. Besides a book you can bring with you everywhere without having to worry about moisture, an electrical outlet and/or the battery crapping out. Something Apple really would have to work on imo since I find the iPhone is rather short on battery-power for having a larger display turned on hour after hour. Even the 3-4 hours on a MacBook is too short.

And I still read the paper on a daily basis.

Then there's art books... the occasional comic...

Replacing all of this with an 'iBook' (if you will) - NEVER!!

Sadly, my kids might - but not while I'm alive.

Recovery won't be V-shaped, however. Even if some abstruse data show the recession waning, nine months from now Americans will be looking back on 2009 as a rosy period. Foreclosed, unemployed and no longer given easy credit, the American street will be focused on much more pressing matters than tablets. Trouble financing Big Macs, let alone Macs, is in the cards for the near future.

I'm curious, how many people finance their Macs?

I fear there may be some resistance to my plan.

Anybody else think this device almost has some similarities with the "Newton", being that it seems to be a pretty advanced/new device that is entering into a new and undeveloped market?

If this thing was released, I doubt it would be a flop as much as the Newton was.
