Don't forget, Android owns the market share. But the real question...are people buying more expensive iphones over less expensive Samsung phones? That would turn many assumptions on their collective heads.
Yeah
And you don't forget:
"1,300 brands
There are now nearly 1,300 brands that have produced over 24,000 distinct Android devices."

When you have that may vendors fighting for dollars, not everyone makes out so well.

Just ask LG:

You can also use Blackberry, Microsoft's or Essentials dalliance into the Android world.
Android "owns the market share" didn't help those companies.

Perhaps. Just perhaps. People are starting to realize that although the iPhone is more expensive on the front end, it can last years longer than most other handsets AND will be supported for many more years than Android.
People already know that but the iPhone is still a luxury product in many market. See this link for reference:

Apple has 25% market share only because Samsung, Xioami and other Chinese brands are selling 100$ smartphones in the densely populated emerging markets in India and Africa. If you eliminate all budget smartphones from the total units sold, Apple would probably has 90% market share. There are BILLIONS of people around the globe who cant just spent more than 150$ for a smartphone, so Apple would NEVER experience a significant market growth until this part of the population is not put out of poverty and can finally afford even a second hand iPhone.

I agree with you 100%. In my post I see that I was not clear. The argument for apple products for at least the last 30 years is that they last much longer than the competition. I think that part of this growth may be the people that are close to affording say an se or a X may be starting to realize it makes more sense.

How does that help your wallet as a consumer?
That's something I've never given two trucks about. I do care about Apple making a reasonable gross and net profit margin though. That fuels the company and keeps them heathy, creating great products and releasing frequent software updates.

2021 is going to be another killer year for Apple, releasing newly designed Macs running on Apple silicon, and with that driving outstanding financial performance.

They have the money for R+D to make the best phones.

That can't be done with reasonable profit and only with excessive profit? Maybe I hang out with smart consumers on Slickdeals too much where no one has the empty-our-pockets mentality. When you go buy a new car, do you also try to empty your pockets/bank accounts or aim to pay at or below sticker price?

How does that help your wallet as a consumer?
I don't care. iPhones are fairly priced, Apple deserve all the profit they get on them.
My "$1000 iPhone" lasts me 4 years easily, making it cheaper compared to purchasing a new flagship Android every 2 years and on top of that it has great resale value.

How does that help your wallet as a consumer?
If the amount of dollars in your wallet is a concern, by all means peruse the slickdeals forums for the best deals for low end android to ease the pressure.
It should be pretty obvious by now Apple doesn't give a **** about your wallet.
Either pay up or go Android.

Let's admit that Apple has indeed successfully pulled it off quarter after quarter irrespective of what people think.

May be their strategy of very high price mobiles working in their favour. And, Huawei and other premium mobiles ban in USA compliments their sales. Lets not forget that after increasing the prices, even Samsung also reporting very impressive earrings report in the recent years.

Ah. Still stuck on the "if the iphone revenue doesn't increase" narrative, Apple is clearly doomed? Even as Apple reported $111B quarter; +1B active users; record revenue in services sectors. Maybe your narrative is out of date and the universe has moved past it.

For these guys, there’s always a “yeah, but” reason to be bearish. He’s been wrong for 5 years on AAPL. He’s dug in. It’s sad, really.

What's interesting are those 105 million shipments of 'other' brands. That's a large number of potential new iPhone users.
No, these are 105 million low income users or middle class in emerging markets where an iPhone costs a kidney to buy. There are many many smartphone users who will never spent more than 300$ for an iPhone to extent that there are Chinese brands that sell you something similar as a product for significantly less money.
