Still can't get over how bulky and ugly this is. Really thought they would try to make it a bit sleeker before launch.
Why are they more obsessed about shaving millimetres off already thin phones and laptops when this thing would actually benefit from being more slimline
I'm with you on that... I already have $325 in Best Buy cards (work gives them to me for being good...) to go towards myWatch!
I see first generation as limited to the enthusiast, 2nd generation to a wider audience, with enhanced features, and 3rd generation to really be a necessary item.
It seems to be the way of things.
Those that are saying "it's just an extension of the phone" and "it doesn't do anything useful" remind me of the same type of statements before the iPod was released - "it's just an mp3 player".
You seem overly confident. Look at the iPad naysayers back in 2010. Hard to argue with them at the time, but they were wrong. Embrace the possibility you could be, too.
Looks are subjective, and I'm not comparing the Apple Watch to other smart watches. From the pictures I have seen this far, I personally don't find the watch attractive, hence me saying that I need to see it person. I am not blown away by the pictures that have been posted and if this was any other company besides Apple, I think the response would be lukewarm at best.
You can wear a phone on your wrist. E.g. the Galaxy Gear S:

And a slew of GSM watch phones... even smart ones...

Naysayers? I t would have been hard to argue with one because it would have been hard to find one. The ipad was an immediate hit. The smartwatch has bearly formed a ripple in the culture generally.
Oh yeah and they look so incredibly thin compared to the Apple Watch.
The tablet PC hadn't taken off before iPad, despite being very old.
Most people I spoke to at the time said 'It's just a big iPod touch' the same way now people say 'what can it do that my phone can't?' about the Watch.
Here's from Walt Mossberg's review: a fairly vanilla tech critic
"For the past week or so, I have been testing a sleek, light, silver-and-black tablet computer called an iPad. After spending hours and hours with it, I believe this beautiful new touch-screen device from Apple has the potential to change portable computing profoundly, and to challenge the primacy of the laptop. It could even help, eventually, to propel the finger-driven, multitouch user interface ahead of the mouse-driven interface that has prevailed for decades."
I think the tenor of reviews was "yes, this is really cool--works great--do we need this?"
I feel the tenor of the watch reception: "blocky, ugly--what does it do?--do we need this?"
Funny how people are commenting on the design of thewatch.
same thing was seen on the iPhone 6/6+ forums. Oh those fugly antenna bands, protuding camera and stuff. I know i was one of them that hated the pictures. Got served a big slice of humble pie when I received my iPhone 6.
its clearly better than whats out there, with more functionality. The bonus is it uses the same software as our iPhones/iPads. it just fits with your daily lifestyle and is a thousand times better and cheaper than the cheapest Genuine Analogue Rolex you can find. I like buying expensive watches for fun so this one is a must have. I was sold the day Tim unvield it. Cannot wait it to add to my collection!

Now, lets hear from the 80 perrcent of people who don't wear warches...
Walt Mossberg & David Pogue were groomed to promote Apple by Steve Jobs many years ago. Quietly receiving new products ahead of launch so immediately after, the glowing reviews were ready. A brilliant man Steve never missed a trick.
I bet we'll see loads of senior citizens buying Apple Watches. That may be one of the key demographics.
All technology reviewers receive devices ahead of launches, Apple is not the only company that does this either.
You are kidding right? Have you seen the screen size? Also the watch is targeted to many demographics health & fitness, wealthy and influential and maybe your millennial who needs a reason to where a watch in the 21st century.
You're fantasizing, it's magic....
Wealthy don't bother with gadgets, influencers are too smart.
I think it pretty-much requires an iPhone... which will have GPS. So no GPS on-board but it will have GPS functionality.
