Apple Targeting March for Apple Watch Launch, Retail Training Begins Next Month

Me too. I'm already hearing it:
Tim: "We're going to introduce today Apple Watch 2 and to tell you all about it, I'd like to invite Phil Schiller up to the stage... Phil!".
Phil: "Well good morning everyone... I'm really excited to tell you all about the new Apple Watch 2... So what have learnt, what can we improve? It starts with a new chip, the S2 which is twice as fast and blablabla ...and it's waterproof! *a video with a swimmer highliting how the Apple Watch 2 changed his life in the pool*".
I know at least one person that has to have one. My teenage daughter. She's mad because I emphatically told her no. 2nd gen maybe, but definitely not 1st gen. I am a horrible parent because I won't allow her to use Apple Pay (she has no job and wants to use one of my credit cards. Too damn funny) and I won't buy her a Gen 1
watch. 1st world, amirite?
why does anyone even want one of these? the only way i'd take one is if i won one for free. The price is absurd for a device with less functionality than a phone, crap battery life, and a chunky boring design. if this thing had turned out to be a wrist cuff with a wrap around screen like the Moment Smartwatch it might have been more compelling
I would think the training will necessary for dealing with the wave of fast followers, and later, coming on the heels of the flood of early adopters.
I still say that Apple will take pre orders for an initial wave of deliveries in time for Valentine's Day.
That or they better have a good ad campaign saying something like:
"the best possible reason for giving a valentines day gift a month late!"

That's not what I would call a "first world problem". Most first world teens don't demand $300+ gifts from their parents. I raised two, in an affluent suburb, and neither they nor their friends would do that, nor expect to use their parents' credit cards.

I want one because it's an exciting new frontier in tech. The interface looks like an awesome user experience. It's a beautiful piece of customizable jewelry. My girlfriend and I will use the communication features every day. I'd love to have a way to receive notifications without having to pull my phone out every two seconds. It will be a great fitness tracker and help me track my progress as I am very active. Its the most convenient way to pay for things that exists in my opinion. And I'm sure developers will have a ton of rich ideas.
I really can't wait to have one.

Almost nothing without a bluetooth connection to an iPhone, draining the battery of both.
Actually if the first gen were waterproof it'd be a BUY for me rather than a... "I'll wait for reviews and maybe even the 2nd gen".
Based on my experience with Apple their first gen products are always crippled in some way and then their 2nd Gen fixes what should have been fixed to begin with. ie iPhone 1 was only EDGE when 3G was already readily available for years. iPod Touch 1 didn't have volume buttons, iPad 1 lacked bluetooth and sufficient RAM.
Prime example being the iPad... it stopped supporting it at iOS5, but the iPad 2 is STILL being supported today at iOS8.
Watch 1 will be like a beta tester's device and 2nd gen will have it down like usual... I still want one though. 
Yes, excluding the 128GB iPad and last year small updates to the Mac linup it was 'The new iPad' (3rd Generation) in 2012.
