You don't have to do these crappy ads Tim. Just build me a nice Mac Pro at a not too over inflated price and not only will I buy that, I’ll buy a phone and some other Apple trinkets too.
He is, but I think too late for most...

Does anybody truly find Kenan Thompson funny?

The dude has been on SNL for like 15 years and I have yet to ever even smirk at one of his sketches.

But then again--nobody is funny on SNL and everybody stares at the cue cards as if every single sketch was written 5 minutes prior to air.

Agreed with previous poster-- get Tracey Morgan.

Geez, SNL hasn't been funny in years. Not sure what good this will do. They'd be better off advertising on instagram and youtube a lot more.
What does funny have to do with it? SNL is reaching more people than they have in decades. Apple has advertised to that audience for years so now they want to cement that relationship with SNL and the audience.

You're describing every generation or incarnation of SNL including the one that you like too.

Yup. Go into your basement, find a VHS tape from your favourite season of SNL, and it's guaranteed the bad to good ratio of skits will be just as high as today.

I've been watching SNL forever, and I'm always sad when my favourite cast members leave, but a new ones always rise up to take their place once they're comfortable.

All this how funny or not funny or good or not good SNL is or was is more or less moot as when it comes to advertising it's really mostly about this:

Well, no. Unless the ads are memorable the people watching SNL to get their weekly comedic jabs at Trump are not going to notice. Other than Trump bits SNL's writing isn't funny. The Trump bits are only funny because, well, Trump and his idiosyncrasies. Easy money.

If Apple wanted funny they should just hire a good comedy writer and put that ad on during SNL. I'm guessing these SNL ads will not be all that funny too. But that said they can't be any worse than the dreck Apple's in-house people have been shoving onto the Internet and TV.

I like Baldwin's Trump and i'm a bit conservative. Just give him an iphone.

That said, the real stars for Apple are their products. They're thinking different too hard with advertising. Show the ios/mac/apple tv features Apple. This is why I have one.

Hey Tim,

If you want to be a social justice warrior activist, then quit doing it on our time and step down as CEO of Apple, get out of the way, and let someone else take over who really cares about ALL of Apple's clients. We are not all liberal SJW's like you. Nor do we all really care about Apple's newly found social conscious. Things were much better under Steve who really could not give a crap about all of this. But he cared about making great products for his customers. Apple is a business. Not the social welfare department.

SNL has sucked for many years and its attacks on our leaders is disgraceful and not funny at all. Apple considering teaming with SNL on ads was the last straw for me.

I am sick of seeing you travel around the world spewing SJW crap while customers who have spent tens of thousands of dollars on Apple products over the years can't get products that they want and need. 1,000 days old Mac Pro. Really?

Don't even get me started on the stupid spaceship campus. What a waste of time and lots of money. You and Jony boy have been spending lots of resources designing desks and door jambs while we wait for new products that do not suck. Lately, they really suck. No innovation. No vision. No creativity.

I can't believe that we customers put up with the huge profit margins that you take on products you sell us. We have been ripped off for years. Billions in the bank. Hidden offshore. No domestic spending and development of any kind.

You can't get engineers without hiring foreigners over US Citizens? Then do something domestically to develop engineers here in this country. You can't manufacture products here cheaply enough without foreign child labor? Then develop industrial manufacturing here in this country. You act like you care, but you really do not. Take lower profit margins and help us here.

Apple is the not the face of SJW that it puts forward when it changes its logos green or you attack our leaders. Apple takes huge profit margins, hides profits overseas, hires foreigners instead of US Citizens, offshores thousands of jobs, and has done nothing to help the citizens of the country who have bought Apple products since the Steves started Apple in a garage.

Apple has become a huge disappointment to someone like me who started with Apple in 1984 and relied on Apple products personally and professionally since then.

People need to realize what a hypocrite you really are.

Shareholders won't revolt because you are giving them what they want, but customers will.

Step down and let a real CEO who cares about Apple's domestic customers take over.

Then you'll have time to host an episode of SNL yourself!

The age of Tv is over.
Good time for Apple to... build the Apple TV. No, buy Netflix and integrate into iTunes. No, buy Top Gear and other premium shows... no. No, create their own multi-studio distribut... no. Create their own original content... no. Create copies of other people's reality shows that appeal to no one... no. Create their own streaming serv... no. Create a conglomerate of streaming... no. I know, BUY ADS!

Funny or not, and there will be plenty who will likely find them funny, as there will be plenty who might not find them funny, the eyeballs will be there, and that's essentially the top priority.

Yes, but you miss my point 100%. Apple doesn't need SNL to write its ad for it to run during the show. If Apple wanted funny it should get someone or a group that is funny to write it then run that ad during SNL. By example, no one remembers the lame ads run during the SB - only the really ne or two that were funny or poignant. If Apple wants funny TV writers then it should try Modern Family. I mean the iPad episode is classic.

Dumpy is not a conservative so it's OK.

Until it launches in late 2019 and is back ordered until 2020. That being said the update will have to be insanely great at this point in the game. I think Apple really didn't want to do it that much but has decided to just to show some love. Expect price tags of $3,995 for the display and $5,000 for the Macpro. Because you know, professionals have that kind of money.
