Apple Teams Up With Pepsi for Free Music Subscriptions

Pepsi plans to advertise the promotion throughout the summer months, starting with an ad featuring Puerto Rican rapper and singer Bad Bunny.

Not to be that guy, but why did you guys feel the need to identify his ethnicity when it has nothing to do with the article or adds any substance?

A long time ago you could get free iTunes song downloads from…maybe Pepsi?

Edit: late to the party with this insight sorry.
Starbooks had a weekly promo as well Songs and games. Each week had a cardboard with the code. You could walk in and grab one. No purchase necessary.

You mean the diet version of their drinks that are full of chemicals? A) Either you know nothing about nutrition and biology
B) you don't care
C) you prefer to ignore it

Sodas don’t cause obesity. Drinking too many of them do. No food makes you fat just too much of them do.

But you going to love this…Pepsi makes a diet soda with the same calories as water.

Totally with you on this one. Shame that others are uneducated when it comes to nutrition etc.
Heck, just look how defensive people are even here.
Its almost the same like talking to average american about gun control. Dead end conversation :-D

Yeah, completely opposed to their stance on health and wellness. To get behind any of the major food manufacturers is a mockery of standing for health and wellness.

❗️Rant on❗️ As I finish medical school and prepare to start residency I am already aware of the system that’s set up to sell hyper-palatable, ultra-processed junk that uses clever marketing jargon like “Organic, whole grain, low-fat, heart healthy, vegan…” whilst the public gets addicted, sicker and fatter, and more dependent on pharmaceuticals. As the saying goes, “a sick patient is a paying customer.” Worse yet, that same system, yes companies like Kellogg’s, Coca Cola, Pepsi, General Mills, overwhelmingly pay for the research that dictates our nutritional guidelines, and in the US we allow the major pharmaceutical companies to fund the research on their drugs. The amount of COI is just outrageous. Sad to see Apple partnering up with such disgraceful companies who literally sell nothing but total garbage. Sorry for the rant but this stuff is near and dear. I hate seeing sick dependent patients suffering and feeling hopeless because the system is quite literally against their health and well being.

I hear you and totally agree!

I prefer Coca-Cola over Pepsi. Just kidding! I like them both.
If it's a fountain drink at a restaurant I'll take what they have. If I'm buying a bottle it's going to be Coke. I wish they would've did the collaboration with Coke because I'll never buy a bottle of Pepsi. There's no big reason behind it other than I prefer the taste of Coke so if I have a choice that's the one I'm going to pick.

I love to see Apple engaging with other brands and building up pop culture opportunities. Apple has always done limited collabs with artists (the infamous U2 partnership) but Steve Jobs' Apple was too insular and afraid of opening up to associations with other brands.

Since then, Nike has proven a perfect fit for Apple Watch and Apple Music sponsoring the Super Bowl Halftime show was a major pop culture achievement.

Spotify does these all the time and Apple Music has been too shy to match them. As a marketing executive, I'll say that if you want to be the preferred music app for teens and young adults, you have to be a part of pop culture and it looks like Apple is finally getting that.

You know what would be really cool, if I found a code and could stack it onto the end of my yearly Apple Music subscription, so I too could get three free months. (yeah, that's thirty bucks, so, I realize not gonna happen)

PepsiCo is teaming up with Apple to offer Pepsi drinkers free Apple Music access this summer. As noted by AdAge, Pepsi today launched its "Press Play on Summer Campaign."

The ad blitz will see Pepsi offering 400 million 20-ounce bottles of Pepsi, Pepsi Zero Sugar, Pepsi Mango, Pepsi Wild Cherry, Mountain Dew, Mountain Dew Major Melon, Mountain Dew Spark, Mountain Dew Voltage, Starry, and Starry Zero Sugar with Apple Music QR codes. The codes, which are available starting today, will provide free three-month Apple Music memberships to new customers, trips to Apple music live events, and Beats headphones.

Pepsi plans to advertise the promotion throughout the summer months, starting with an ad featuring Puerto Rican rapper and singer Bad Bunny. Bad Bunny was Apple's 2022 Artist of the Year, and the "Un Verano Sin Ti" album was Apple Music's most streamed album in 2022.

Ads for the free Apple Music codes will be on TV, social networks, and other locations such as gas stations and convenience stores.
Pepsi and Apple first teamed up in 2003, with Pepsi offering 100 million song downloads from the iTunes Store.

Pepsico were too slow to stop trading in Russia. I can't help but hesitate to buy their products or interact with their branding as a result.

Free Apple Music trials have become what AOL CDs where in the 1990s. Given that it's always for new subscribers only, I can't believe there's many people left who want to try Apple Music who haven't done so already - never mind 400 million of them!

Partnership with sugar water? 🤮
Better drink something decently than this artificial unhealthy crap.

On the one side they promote e.g. the Apple Watch, Apple Fitness for healthcare, on the other side they partnership with a company that is partly responsible for the obesity leading in the U.S.

SMH! Seems like Apple even walk over ☠️ for 🤑

I'm sure somebody will find some loophole for which Pepsi will owe him money at the end, like with that Harrier

Apple's partnership with Nike actually goes back almost two decades, when the two brands introduced the Nike+iPod Sports Kit in 2006.

Steve Jobs and the Nike CEO unveiled the collaboration at a press event in New York. Also on hand for the event — the since-disgraced Lance Armstrong.

Apple supporting biggest plastic polluters on the planet to reduce their carbon footprint it seems. Also y'all need to try Coca Cola's fizzier version from India.

Should we all try it in the plastic bottle version?
