Can we bring coding to the iPad first?

Never mind, ChatGPT has been released for iOS.

Looking forward to this. I suspect there will be loads of interesting app opportunities.
I hope so, I think this will be their one and only shot to sell it as something more than a gimmick. It's been a while, I'd like to be blown away by Apple making something of an emerging tech and taking it mainstream.

Is this a dawn of new bugs? If so, I'll pass. Tired of dealing with my HomePod minis that only work when they want to. The most buggy device Apple has ever released and hasn't fixed.
I agree. Rarely a day goes by where it can’t connect to the internet, struggles to understand something not refuses to play a song that all other devices can do fine.

AI integration is available in Visual Studio, so SOMETHING surely should come from John Giannandrea with AI integration solutions available in Swift\Xcode. That's going to be the new era of computing.

If this 'new era' is instead a VR headset... meh. Lead balloon.

I'm all for new Eras. Just fix the bugs in macOS and iOS. Fix stage manager and make a free form window manager with the traffic lights for window management. Consider bringing a terminal to iPad OS (although we can use apps such as termius for ssh-ing into other hosts). Bring 3nm, full steam ahead!

And, please apple, consider bringing AAA gaming to the macintosh.

All I can think about with this is when Dean Pelton wasted Greendale Community College’s money on an ancient VR rig:

… And then proceeded to reference “And Jesus wept, for there were no more worlds to conquer“ incessantly throughout the rest of the episode.

Fingers crossed the "coding new worlds" also has something to do with the coding part, apart from the obvious of new worlds in VR. Microsoft's co-pilots for Visual Studio are said to boost productivity up to 50%, so I hope Apple has something like that going on for Xcode and Swift.

I am withholding judgement of course, but as of right now, I cannot think of anything this would do that would make me buy it. I have never had the slightest urge to buy an oculus or the other vr things.

I did enjoy The Void at Disney World though.
Same here unless they allow the headset to be used to emulate monitors. Imagine having two 4k 32inch virtual monitors and since it's extended reality you're not completely isolated and can still see real world objects like keyboard and mouse.

Imo, app opportunities won't need to delve into gimmickry. I view AR as a problem-solving tool and I think the possibilities are pretty much limitless for app developers. Just takes a wee bit of imagination.

It will be fascinating seeing the results of Apple collaborating with Stanford University's AR/VR Laboratory for the last seven years.

I think the future is pretty bright with respect to Apple's AR/VR tech.
