The first iPhone was innovation. The rest have all been upgrades to the original concept. Feature bloat has made them ever larger, heavier and more complex. One almost needs a back pack or belt side carrier for the top models and be a computer whiz to figure how to do the things that were dirt simple in the beginning.

A simple Motorola flip phone does have it's merits for ease of use for the primary purpose of making a call.

Apple CEO Tim Cook believes that his company will have opportunities to deliver "innovations that have never been seen before" this year.
Can there even be innovations that have been seen before? “Never been seen before” is redundant. Does not echo well with me because it is the same hyperbole the CEO of this country is touting ad infinitum. Besides, Apple currently needs to focus more on renovation than on innovation.

We need some actual innovation like the new privacy screen on Galaxy S26. It even lets you choose which elements on the screen you want hidden from side angle. Why didn't Apple think of this first 🤔
Because Apple is resting a little bit too much on its privacy laurels.

Making it an option would be just fine. Give me a choice of Liquid Glass or Sequoia, either one in light or dark mode.

Really innovative would be Cinnamon and Plasma as options as well.
I would like coffee themed options … crema … mocha … espresso … flat white

Apple continues to demonstrate their ability to sell barely improved products year after year.
Why stop doing what works? After all, the OG Mac design from 1984 was sold until approximately 1995 (128k, 512, Plus, SE, SE/30, Classic, Color Classic). People blame Tim Cook for the iPhone 6 through iPhone SE 3 staying the same, but I feel like Apple iterates on their best attempt at a design and it often works in the market.

I hope Siri that actually works is one of them

"Siri, play my new music mix on Apple Music"
"Sorry, I don't see an app called new music mix"
"Siri, play my new music mix on Apple Music which is an Apple app you stupid piece of S***"
The second one actually worked this morning

I've been waiting to replace the wheels on my Mac Pro for over two years. Could this be the year when we see the eagerly anticipated autonomous driving system? I'm just connecting the dots between the new Siri, Gemini and innovations that have never been seen before. We'll see.

The logo typically hints at what to expect, and this time it's safe bet that one of the innovations is a colonoscope.

Imagine the convenience of being able to perform a colonoscopy in the privacy of your own home and have it sync with your Watch, iPhone or iPad to see the results. It fits Apple's increasing focus on health. iColon has a nice ring to it.

You heard it here first.
OMG they will be sold in pairs🍸😹

Definitely Tim will be mentioning the foldable iPhone. Not sure whether the smart glasses will launch this year. Anyway looking forward to the new products launching this year. Have been waiting a very long time for the foldable. Don't think I will buy one especially if it is going to lack a telephoto lens. Based on rumors, the screen size also seems to be smaller than what I was expecting.

Apple CEO Tim Cook believes that his company will have opportunities to deliver "innovations that have never been seen before" this year.

"As I said at the beginning of my remarks, this was, in so many ways, a remarkable quarter for Apple, and we're excited for all the opportunities we'll have in the year ahead to deliver innovations that have never been seen before and enrich the lives of users every step of the way," said Cook, on an earnings call on Thursday.

Cook hypes up Apple's future on every earnings call, but "innovations that have never been seen before" is particularly bold wording compared to his usual comment about how the company's product pipeline is stronger than ever.

Only time will tell if Apple actually delivers.

Will the foldable iPhone have any breakthrough features, such as a rumored crease-free screen?

Will the more personalized version of Siri go above and beyond the likes of ChatGPT in any ways?

Will the long-rumored Apple smart glasses do anything unique compared to the Meta Ray-Bans?

Will the rumored Apple smart home hub, security camera, and Face ID video doorbell give companies like Google and Ring a run for their money?

These are some of 2026's burning questions, and we look forward to seeing what Apple has in store throughout what should be quite a busy year.

Given that I'm using Apple Intelligence and AppIntents in everyday workflows made up of Shortcuts and macOS Spotlight that I couldn't have conceived of not that long ago, I don't doubt it. Enabling Siri to finally access personal context, on-screen content and in-app actions will bring revolutionary innovations - and I suspect that's just the tip of the iceberg.

But to give you a concrete example, I searched for a photo using an AppIntent from macOS Spotlight-- then, while the one I wanted was displayed, I sent an email - again with an AppIntent from Spotlight - that had the photo attached - without ever doing a "share" from Photos or opening Mail. I was genuinely surprised to see that it worked. We are heading into truly amazing times.

Some of my favorite features released over the years probably didn’t require innovative new technology. They mostly leveraged what they had in a clever way. But for me they were huge.

I’m thinking about Find My, audio messages, Live Photos, FaceTime, etc.
Your favorites likely vary.
