CSAM folks, please don’t forget about it. Just because Apple says it’s on hold, don’t for a second think they won’t add it in the next update.
If you care, say so with your wallet…
Do not update the OS on any of your devices. This may not seem an obvious hit to Apple’s bottom line, but they spend a lot on development. If you don’t upgrade, their investment essentially goes to waste. There are some cool new things coming, but do you really need them or new emojis?
Do not buy any new hardware. This obviously makes sense, but it hits Apple in more ways than one. Not just in sales figures, but it also affects their suppliers and more. If you absolutely need to upgrade a device, buy it used and not from Apple refurbished.
As I’ve mentioned before, it can be hard to leave the Apple ecosystem and it’s not entirely feasible for some us, myself included. That said, you can do plenty without ditching Apple entirely, but you can do what I’ve mentioned above as well as…
Cancel and/or not use Apple TV+, iTunes, Apple Arcade, etc. There are a ton of other options.
If you have an Apple Card, close it. Be sure to tell them when close your account, you are doing it because of CSAM. Just to note, you can recycle your card (Google it).
If you have it, sell your Apple stock.
At the end of the day, the only way Apple will pay attention is when it hits their bottom line and share holders. The days of Steve steering the ship are long gone. Not that he was perfect, but he got it and I have a feeling he would not have approved of this crap.
