Yes you are.Not wanting to get into it, but am I opting in to CSAM detection (turned on at a later date) by upgrading to iOS 15?

Wow, it's not like you can use any other service that won't scan your photos. If you want to host everything yourself, you're welcome to do so.CSAM folks, please don’t forget about it. Just because Apple says it’s on hold, don’t for a second think they won’t add it in the next update.
If you care, say so with your wallet…
Do not update the OS on any of your devices. This may not seem an obvious hit to Apple’s bottom line, but they spend a lot on development. If you don’t upgrade, their investment essentially goes to waste. There are some cool new things coming, but do you really need them or new emojis?
Do not buy any new hardware. This obviously makes sense, but it hits Apple in more ways than one. Not just in sales figures, but it also affects their suppliers and more. If you absolutely need to upgrade a device, buy it used and not from Apple refurbished.
As I’ve mentioned before, it can be hard to leave the Apple ecosystem and it’s not entirely feasible for some us, myself included. That said, you can do plenty without ditching Apple entirely, but you can do what I’ve mentioned above as well as…
Cancel and/or not use Apple TV+, iTunes, Apple Arcade, etc. There are a ton of other options.
If you have an Apple Card, close it. Be sure to tell them when close your account, you are doing it because of CSAM. Just to note, you can recycle your card (Google it).
If you have it, sell your Apple stock.
At the end of the day, the only way Apple will pay attention is when it hits their bottom line and share holders. The days of Steve steering the ship are long gone. Not that he was perfect, but he got it and I have a feeling he would not have approved of this crap.
Just to note, I don’t have a problem with them scanning stuff in iCloud and definitely not CSAM, the problem with this whole thing is scanning MY devices.Wow, it's not like you can use any other service that won't scan your photos. If you want to host everything yourself, you're welcome to do so.
It's totally inaccurate that they are scanning your devices. The scanning happens on-device for your privacy but it only matches photos uploaded to iCloud photo library. It does NOT scan anything that you keep local on your device. Also it's not scanning per say but a matching process of your hashes to a hash database of known CSAM.Just to note, I don’t have a problem with them scanning stuff in iCloud and definitely not CSAM, the problem with this whole thing is scanning MY devices.
To your point, I already do. We’ve got a Synology NAS setup at home for storage, backups, and media hub. Also using Sync.com E2E encrypted cloud storage for redundancy.

It's only matching your photos if, and only if, you upload them to iCloud. They are NOT scanning your device.Care to revise your statement? You literally just said it’s accurate. Look I’m not here for a pissing match with you or anyone else.
Bottom line is I do not want my devices scanned. I don’t care whatever system Apple comes up with, that’s allegedly “safe” and “private”. Scan away in iCloud, that is their prerogative as they own the servers.
It’s a very, very slippery slope. They scan CSAM today, tomorrow they scan your memes for political agendas.
I had a clever answer to this but then a notification came in and iAre people that distracted that they need a focus mode and a summary of the crud in their feed once they're done being "focused"?
