Great show.. I usually don't like TV shows, and the more hyped they are the less I seem to like them, but I thought it was pretty damn great..

It would be really surprising if it doesn't do exactly that. The plot already has so many logic holes that I don't see how it can be salvaged into anything coherent.
Most people don’t notice logic holes and have no problem with suspended belief.

I'm so excited for season 2! It's a shame to hear production was so difficult, hopefully things smooth out and we get a few more great seasons!

About damn time. My favorite show to come out in the last few years and we've been (im)patiently waiting for S2. Will definitely go back rewatch S1 since it's been over two years now.

Silo was widely panned, then banned, in my household. The discrepancies from the (excellent) books were just too much for us. I did appreciate the Vision Pro-like helmets.

(All-in on severance)

I loved silo but never read the books

I find it best thought to take tv/movie adaptation of books for what they are and not compare them with the source material

Obviously you can still dislike it on its owns merits (or lack thereof) but comparisons seem pointless

I didn't think much of Severance season 1 to me it was trying to hard to be werid and just wasn't working.

I don't like the new TV series that are only 8 or 10 episodes, then a long wait to see if it is even going to get another season. I'm thinking of giving up on Apple TV+ some good series but too long a wait for next season.

Do I even have to mention season one of "Breaking Bad" was only 7 episodes?

You gotta test out these shows or else you'll double your losses if audiences don't bite.

A fantastic show with one of the best season ending cliff hangers of all time. Very much looking forward to season 2
Eh... I'm not sure. The cliff hanger aspect of (any modern) show is very meh. Instead of focusing on the story and possibly even making it a 1 serie show with nice ending that ties everything up they may end up with "LOST" where they kept making the thing when they already ran out of the ideas...

Might have to give this one a try considering all the hype around it from viewers and critics alike. With there only having been one season so far this is the perfect time to jump in ahead of the new season just around the corner. With the exception of a couple standouts like Ted Lasso and The Morning Show, I haven't been all that terribly impressed with the ATV+ catalog up to this point. There are quite a few "Continue Watching..." series on my Home Screen that don't go deeper than one or two episodes. I do like how they're now following in the footsteps of the likes of HBO, Hulu, etc and offering a decent smattering of hit movies on a temporary rotating basis but most of their original content has left a lot to be desired imo. I hope they don't pull a Netflix and start green lighting anything and everything for no other reason than simply because they have the means to do so.
I’m having the exact opposite experience. I’m watching and liking series on Apple TV+ more than on any other streaming service (Netflix, Disney+, Amazon prime and some free local television station streaming services). the hit to miss ratio for me is very good compared to the others.

You were disappointed with Lost, so no one should ever plot a multi-season series again?

At least wait until the actual first episode of season 2 before you decide if they stuck the landing.

The problem with Lost was that there wasn’t any plotting. They just made it up as they went along. No plan for the overall story arc. Just kept introducing new spooky things, new characters, new sub-plots in scattergun style. Never really resolving anything or reaching any satisfying conclusions.

I’m the first to admit there’s an awful lot of crap on Netflix etc. But some of it is very good, and the sheer quantity of content means that I can always find something new and interesting to watch. Every single day there is new stuff added, and their algorithm is pretty good at identifying things that I’ll like and making sure I see them.

AppleTV+ on the other hand, charges nearly as much for far less content. I can come back after several weeks and almost nothing has changed. It’s almost gone catatonic lately!

It could very well be the case that the value prospect of the service may have increased somewhat for me since the last time I really took a moment to peruse the ever-expanding catalog. It's growing all the time and by quite a lot at that, so in theory that should up the odds that there's more to intrigue me as time goes on. Have you checked out that detective show set in the '50s at all yet? It looks pretty good (can't remember the name at the moment but the lead actor is a major household name I think) and sounds like it's been getting decent marks so far from those who have watched it.

You’re a glass half empty kinda guy

Imo there was nothing to not like about the first season, the only reason to “meh” about the future is to protect yourself from disappointment.

As for me, if the second season is disappointing, I’ll be disappointed then and not in advance.

Okay. And if someone tells you one bad punchline, no one else should ever tell jokes? I could almost understand the argument if it was the same team producing both shows, but even then, it is a different show and plot.

The Good Place was plotted perfectly for four seasons. Perhaps Severance will be like Lost, but I'm hoping it will be like The Good Place. Either way, art involves trying something, and I see all these complaints about some people not enjoying what was tried. Well, that is how art works in a well functioning world... not everything is for everyone and the lowest common denominator sucks. Thankfully, enough people keep trying things that there should be a few things for everyone.

I'm fine with multi-season series... the problem is they are usually made "as they go" without deeper consideration for the whole arc so when they run out of ideas and the "goldengoose" is still ripe they will squeeze it more till it dies... and at that point they usually cancel the show without tying out loose ends...

There was Expanse, it was planned (well, mostly) and had start-middle-end and it was brilliant (book wise, show was... guess what... canceled :D)

I'm old and grumpy and "timewasted" on myepisodes says 5593 episodes, 284108 minutes totalling to 7 months, 1 days, 7 hours, 8 minutes so yeah... I had my fair share of experience with various forms of shows and how they are handled.

In the past I followed your advice and if the show went sideways or it ended on cliffhanger I usually watched first (1-2) episodes of the next season and decided if it's worth the time...

I think it also somewhat boils down to being older and not having all that free time and prefering solid stories that actually don't requires 20 seasons to unfold into nothing... Movies are nice but they are often to shallow. Longer movies are tedious so a 10-ep 1-season show for me strikes nice balance - it can have more space to develop characters and unfold the story but it has manageable chunks (that you can binge or not) and has proper ending...
