The Apple Fitness+ Instagram account today teased that the service has "big plans" for 2026. In a video, several Apple Fitness+ trainers are shown holding up newspapers with headlines related to Apple Fitness+.

  • What's Apple Fitness+ Planning for the New Year?
  • Something Big is Coming to Apple Fitness+
  • The Countdown Begins. Apple Fitness+ 2026 is Almost Here
  • 2026 Plans Still Under Wraps-For Now
There are rumors that an AI-based Health+ service will be introduced at some point in 2026, but the Apple Fitness+ post may simply be referencing some kind of fitness program or fitness promotion that's designed to help people meet their New Year's Resolutions. It sounds like an announcement is planned for January 1, 2026.

The Health+ service that's in the works will supposedly incorporate AI for personalized health recommendations and health coaching. Health+ will rely on the LLM version of Siri that Apple has planned, which isn't expected until iOS 26.4 in the spring, so we're probably not hearing about the service in January.

My bet is some kind of large screen device dedicated to fitness workouts. Probably wrong but throwing my guess into the ring.
Good guess, but that’s highly unlikely. I wonder if it’s purely software. It’ll be something big enough to justify the post on social media, but nowhere near as exciting as new hardware.

You’re prob right. Looking at the vid I just kept seeing these large (like 2-3x 13in iPad size) screens rectangles that resemble large screens and it just came to me but yeah- no rumors (that I’m aware of) for a larger device or screen like that.

Who the hell is using these services? People were in shape for decades before smart phones, you don't need any of these. It is not that complicated.
I agree and, being the luddite that I am, would apply that logic to most things in our lives that we now do through screens. We don't need most of it and they are mostly a detriment to our physical and mental health, at least in the way that they have been implemented. I drew a line in the sand with most technology some time ago and won't stay on this train.

"It's dead, Jim."

Okay but I lost 65 lbs with Apple Fitness+ so it is worth it to me. What’s it to you what people buy with their money.
I don't think they were insinuating that nobody can possibly get results from these devices. Rather, it has been proven that you could also get the same results before these devices existed. I am glad you lost the weight though, its not an easy feat no matter how you approach it.

I’ve been using fitness+ since it launched and hasn’t really evolved much in my option other than adding additional workout types. Things I’d love to see:
- rep tracking. The app Train does this really well, automatically detecting reps and allowing for weight input to track progress natively
- interval/segment tracking - it’d be nice if the system could capture when change on moderate, all out, or hard effort so you can see a breakdown of effort, similar to what other running apps do
- time to run - similar thing. Would love to see it track segments in a workout
- dynamic training plans. Right now, it’s a curated playlist, but something along the lines of Runna would be cool where I can see my goals and fitness+ can create a truly dynamic plan I can follow along, adjusting based on workouts I miss. It can also use vitals data to adjust when it detects poor recovery or an illness
