Apple Teases Star Wars-Themed 'Behind the Mac' Film Featuring Skywalker Sound

Apple today released a brief teaser trailer for an upcoming "Behind the Mac" film featuring Skywalker Sound, the sound effects division of Lucasfilm known for the Star Wars franchise and many other high-profile movies.

The full film will be released on Apple's YouTube channel on May 4, Star Wars Day, and will examine how artists at Skywalker Sound use Macs and other tools to generate the sounds featured in the iconic films.

Nope, Dolby Atmos doesn’t exist on YouTube.

If I recall correctly, YouTube is max encoded to 2.0 stereo sound only. The reason being with the limitations, is because it requires more bandwidth/storage.

Oh, please...let's have another super long argument about the relevant merits of each of the Star Wars movies...and TV shows.

I enjoyed them all...that's right, every one...warts and all. Every one had parts that didn't make sense and yet every one was worth the $12 and the 2-3 hours of my life (many times over). It is entertainment, not religion. It is a shame that YouTube critics are slowly ruining entertainment with standards that no team of creators can possibly reach and maintain. It is taking much of the enjoyment out of the medium.

One man's Star Wars movie is another man's gangster movie. Be thankful we live in a time with choice. Be less thankful we live in a time where everyone feels the need to publish their opinions for the world to see and read.

of course people can enjoy whatever they like, but none of the later movies or TV shows captured the spirit of the original movies. and that's just my personal taste and opinion. I am not asking anyone to agree with me.

I enjoy the original trilogy as nicely self contained experience.

I'm also reminded of how iMovie from 2003 to 2006 included some Skywalker Sound effects. A couple of the effects were also actually dramatic background music tracks, such as "Foreshadowing" and "Suspense."

Perhaps Disney wouldn't allow that. Apple TV+ is going for the kind of content that could rival Disney+ one day, high quality family friendly stuff I mean.

Good question I suspect they are putting it on Youtube to reach the people that don't have AppleTV+. It looks like a documentary-AD made to drum up interest in Apple, not a feature film.
