Neither is the opinion of folks who have never seen or touched it - which is everyone on here.
Everyone? I don't recall stating my opinion of how good or bad this is.

I'm waiting until it comes out and I can touch/try it. In the end, my opinion is the only one that matters, not this anonymous tester.

If it’s as heavy and expensive as the reports, this’ll be a fart in the wind for Apple.

As someone who has vision impairment, I’ll sit this one out until they can have accessibility for those of us with vision issues.

EDIT: I’m specifically talking about usability. 3DTV offered nothing for those of us who are 3D-blind. Will those same issues occur with a wraparound headset?
It will likely be one of the lightest standalone headsets out there.

As for VR vs 3D, it offers parallax, so you'll still get some depth cues.

First gen Apple products may not be the best value, but they’re always beautiful and well built :apple:
If you want value, you should buy one during launch day, keep it in it's original wrapper and original bag, put it in a temperature controlled storage unit and sell it on the electronic BAY 20 years later.

True, if you look at it that way maybe they’re the best value 😂 I have a first gen iPhone I did that with, I didn’t really intend for it to be an investment I just thought it was neat to have ha

It’d be kind of funny if this has RAM and/or Storage tiers so they can gouge folks for upgrades…as on basically every single other Apple product

I’m not a conspiratorial person, but even I think this “leaker” was planted by Apple to seed positive news about Reality Pro to the press. And of course this site falls hook, line, and sinker for tantalizing rumors, as the name implies.

The most telling part is that after the negative appraisals of Reality Pro, they claimed it has massively improved.

They’re really trying to adjust perceptions of the headset and it’s not clear it will work.

I can see the future of this device replacing the main TV and all the expensive devices. Today, the old movie night almost gone. We watch our two generations behind us. Teens, Mom and Dad watching their stuff now on IOS devices. Everyone watching a different streaming media. The added benefit, zero room sound. Imagine apartment, condo, open concept layouts with multiple streams with no room sound with awesome sound and images for each. No need for a special movie room, not cheap or annoying in an open concept. The Big Game and or Top Gun example.

" with the battery instead worn at the waist to prevent the headset from being too heavy." - in my younger days, I'm ashamed to say I was proud to have my camera, PalmPilot, and Motorola Razor hanging off my belt as a badge of geekiness. I don't think I'll go back to those 'glory' days LoL.

More seriously, if Apple does that, it's just the second nail (after the $3k price tag, if true) in the coffin. It would be a complete flop except as a devkit item.

I just don't understand the need for massive processing power on the headset itself. Why don't they simply let the iPhone do that heavy lifting and simply stream the results to the headset and stream any sensor data from the headset back to the phone? There may not be enough network bandwidth to stream 8K VR data, but VR is a niche market anyway. AR glasses using this approach could be as light as regular glasses.

I don't get it. I'm basing my opinions on the AR headset on pure speculation and now it seems I could be wrong? Guess I'll have to wait until the official launch then 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️
What is wrong with you with this measured, rational response!? Where is the outrage about a product you've never seen? What is this world coming to! /s

I seriously doubt it will be $3k, my guess is that number was leaked on purpose to make it sound like a bargain at “just $1999”.

Either way, I can’t wait to see it. First gen Apple products may not be the best value, but they’re always beautiful and well built :apple:
Whatever the price, I don't think that this is the mass-market version of this kind of product. I expect this one to be one step past prototype and the actual consumer version with wider appeal to come in another year or two and at a more consumer friendly price.
