Apple Intelligence Redesigns iPhone Bezels. Moves Them to the Back.

Cupertino, CA — In a groundbreaking act of artificial arrogance, Apple today unveiled the 20th Anniversary iPhone Pro, featuring Ultra-Thin Bezels™—so thin, so advanced, they have been banished to the back of the device.

Because when you hand over design decisions to Apple Intelligence™, things get... magical.

Using trillions of parameters, kilobytes of data, and the heightened common sense of Siri, Apple Intelligence determined that bezels were “visually disruptive” and “emotionally outdated.” So it did what any omnipotent algorithm would do: it relocated them behind the screen, out of sight, out of mind, and definitely out of user demand.

At what point does keep increasing the screen size become ridiculous? Why not just make a 12" phone now Apple forget about the small generational increments?

My Air is the absolute maximum screen size I'd go to and yes I know I'm only one example but this race to bigger and bigger screen sizes is becoming crazy in my opinion. It's like the race in the 1990's to make phones smaller and smaller in reverse.

Apple needs to show that they can reveal an iPhone with 20 years of ACTUAL innovation with new ideas not copy paste technology that has already existed years ago.
For the most part smartphones, at least in the candybar format, are a pretty mature category these days. What part, precisely, are you looking for them to innovate massively on?

Why? The numbers for the mini weren’t that great, that’s why they stop making them
According to some, that’s just one of Apple’s anti-competitive actions. The government should force Apple to produce and ship products that won’t sell well because some portion of the population… just don’t have a choice. Well, they DO have a choice, they just don’t want to choose it. 🙂

So a 0.1 inch increase. Everyone in this thread is rounding up to 6.9” for the current screen size but the actual comparison is 6.86” to 6.96”. Remember significant figures from science class!

Removing the bezel (~1.36mm x 2 = 2.72mm =0.107 in) gives us about that increase in diagonal screen size in this rumor. So I assume that’s all they’re doing. I don’t think this will make the usable part of the screen bigger. There is only so close to the edge that you can put text and interactive content before you start interfering with functionality.

I’m glad it doesn’t sound like the pro max size is getting smaller.

Back in 2012 I wondered if phablets would ever get as big as my Nexus 7 at the time, and here we are. Of course, phone bezels are much slimmer but still crazy how big slab phones have become.

The GUI doesn’t fit on a mini either. I had one for a week and it wasn’t usable and that was a few OS versions ago. Hate to try liquid bubble glass on one…

Apple, please bring back 12” Color Display for macOS!
