If it's the case, I wonder how long it will take people to complain about Apple 'only' including 16 GB.16GB entry level for the M4 Mac mini would indicate 16GB entry level for the M4 iMac, MacBook Air and MacBook Pro too.

(squints) prolly 8 years from now.If it's the case, I wonder how long it will take people to complain about Apple 'only' including 16 GB.
I always thought that iMacs should have been built that way. Sad to upgrade and lose a perfectly good monitor in the process. Simply snap off the brains and add an upgrade. Btw, there used to be (maybe still have them) jigs that would hold a Mini on the back of a monitor or as a shelf unit on top.Maybe they’ll put magnets in the corners and a weireless charger, so you can just click it in place on the back of the XDR display & viola, instant imac.
Depends how quickly they ramp up the AI level of precision- LLMs could benefit from more than 10x that amount of RAM....If it's the case, I wonder how long it will take people to complain about Apple 'only' including 16 GB.

Agreed. Well, unless it's multiples of 6GB.Hopefully the RAM will be...
M4: 16 GB and 32 GB
M4 Pro: 32 GB and 64 GB
M4 Max: 64 GB, 96 GB, and 128 GB
Logged in just to like your comment. It's time Apple.Base RAM 16GB is the best news in the article.
Haha, yep. What are the wholesale prices down to now for that upgrade? A dollar fifty? A dollar? 50 cents? They do adore the near pure profit these upgrades bring.People who want 512 storage will have to pay the typical $200.
It doesn't matter in my book. I've always said that Apple hides inflation and the real cost behind 8GB of RAM. If they made the new MBP start at $1799, that is Apple being honest about the real cost of the notebook. It will also make it significantly easier to get discounts anyway, as 3rd party retailers will have 16GB models in stock to discount.Without knowing the starting price for the base 14-inch MacBook Pro M4, I cannot share in that sentiment.
The current base 14-inch MacBook Pro M3 8/512 starts at $1,599.00. If a base 14-inch MacBook Pro M4 16/512 starts anywhere near $1,799.00, that's no different than upgrading the current base 14-inch MacBook Pro M3 8/512 to a 16/512 configuration.
I'd 🤣 if Apple made the configuration of the base 14-inch MacBook Pro M4 a 16/256 for $1,599.00 to make their cost a wash. People who want 512 storage will have to pay the typical $200.

They hide the costs of inflation behind the update costs you say? While the public have witnessed a lot of inflation lately, many of Apple's component costs have dropped. Some have plummeted in price. Apple talk about it themselves in their earnings calls...It doesn't matter in my book. I've always said that Apple hides inflation and the real cost behind 8GB of RAM. First is was just a rumor. The M4 iPad Pro is only available with 8 or 16GB. There is no 12GB M4 iPad Pro, Or at least not yetBesides what happened to all of the 12GB/24GB/36GB rumors driven by iPad M4 analysis? I'm doubting they would make a 12GB M4 only for iPad Pro.
Self adhesive sticker for 2$ will do the same job as magnets. Well I admit that can not enable wireless charging.Maybe they’ll put magnets in the corners and a weireless charger, so you can just click it in place on the back of the XDR display & viola, instant imac.
Inflation was probably the wrong word, but my point still stands. Apple uses 8GB to be able to advertise a low starting price of $1599, but in reality they want to sell it at $1799 to get a profit margin they find acceptable. RAM is relatively cheap. The 16GB custom upgrade is simply to get the $200 they want to charge anyway out of you. It's genius because now you might as well upsell to the $1999 model at that point. They hide the costs of inflation behind the update costs you say?
