A flip out keyboard on an iPhone. This is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard of. Whatever source Macrumors got this info should be blacklisted straight away!

Agreed. Not on the 5. But maybe a smaller phone if true?

This is what I was thinking. Maybe we're seeing two rumors that are referring to the same device- an iPhone nano with a slide out keyboard. One has to imagine the screen real estate on a potential smaller iphone would be minimal- a slide out keyboard might overcome this.

Oh and by the way- this is MacRUMORS, not MacFACTS. So to everyone that is freaking out- just chill out and enjoy the show. This kind of stuff is supposed to be fun...in the nerdiest way possible.

After this rumor I was think the iOS preview was going to be the April 1st. Sure it's a Friday but it is the companies 35 Anniversary, or Have a fake event that day show off three crazy prototypes. One More Thing will be a real but out there product.

Carry a Bluetooth keyboard in your cargo pocket like me.....

Never gonna happen - not streamlined/sleek enough for Apple

I hope it doesn't, only teens/tweens that text hundreds of times a day would care. Me, I just carry my full apple bluetooth keyboard - I whip that out and I mean business. ;)

The exciting news that should be reported is I canceled AT&T today, sold my iPhone 4 and went to Verizon with their iPhone 4. I now have 3G for the first time ever in my town, and signal in my whole house :D

It'll never happen. Apple Engineers are fired on the spot if Steve even catches a whiff of miniature keyboards or styluses. :D

Why not a slide out touchscreen?

Do a dual slide, landscape and potrait, sliding touch screen. You can then have it change to any keyboard or have it be a game pad!

Something like this but with a touchscreen:

It's been too long since the last Apple related new gadget news, so gadget blogs are just making **** up to fill up their blogs.

I heard a rumor that iPhone 5 mouse will be the available as an option. Sorry Steve, I know I promised I wouldn't tell!

Other prototypes are said to be similar to the iPhone 4 except with an upgraded battery and apparently an 8-megapixel camera, up from the 5-megapixel sensor found on the iPhone 4's rear-facing camera. The report likens those prototypes to the transition from iPhone 3G to iPhone 3GS, with the same basic design augmented primarily by improvements in the device's internals.
Tick-tock just like Intel to incrementally save on engineering changes.

Rocketman

I'm the opposite. (but it also needs Flash and voice-guided navigation before I would give it a try).

Plenty of awful phone options if you want the lag that flash brings.

Also, the iPhone already has a handful of voice navigation apps. In Australia, we have Navigon, Sygic, Tomtom, Metroview, NDrive, CoPilot and more. I'm sure the US would have tonnes.

Of course, the one that's missing is the turn by turn Google app. :(

LOL at slide-out keyboard rumor. That's so 2006.

I dropped mine a bunch of times and it didn't break. Nobody I know with an iPhone 4 broke their screens either.

Maybe someone has clumsy friends? Or believe everything on the internet are real?

agreed, i know 10+ people with ip4's and no breakage.

the reason the iphone is so nice is because it doesn't have a keyboard. if u don't like the multi touch don't get the iphone, its that simple (not trying to be mean here). am especially exited to see the new lineup for this year, hopefully it is more than just described but its cool. id rather have an edge to edge screen even if it isn't bigger one, regardless i will get the larger one.

Good job! I love these types of rumors.

Reminds me of the old days when rumor where RUMORS.

"Alien baby Shitz out iPhone 3D". "Elvis seen with iPhone proto"

The old stuff.

What if the slid out keyboard wasnt a physical keyboard, but just a second screen just for the keyboard! :O that's probably very unlikely due to battery life XD but still, after all these years one should know that it Apple makes it, and steve job approves it, we'll love it too.. isn't that why we're all here?

Dont think so...

I dont believe this, think about it... like Steve Jobs had said before the amount of money and time Apple had spent on making possibly the best touch scn keybrd there is on the market, why would they move back wher they moved away from? if they gonna bring one out with a side-out keybrd that will just destroy the iphone trademark and what they worked for.. I dont think So...

Completely agree, This site should not even post this - it's bordering on trolling! Come on Macrumors, this is totally ridiculous. All the millions spent on touchscreen with massive success so far and you post this? No quality control on these rumours - these are page 2, page 3 even if there was such a thing. And the cloud thing for the iphone nano? Just total BS coming out of this site lately. I've been here for years and not seen this before. Sort it out or it be one less click for me and I'm sure for many others too.

Apple Only Has Seeds and Stems for Sprint/T-Mobile?

They should scrap the "I-Phone Nano" idea.Once again everyone else will get hosed with a phone that is so weak it can't even carry apps. If it means that it won't be able to do what an I-Pod Touch can do, I will just never get the opportunity to get an I-Phone, but more importantly they will cut out two carriers when it isn't even necessary. Sadly that Kyocera Echo crap is even sounding better than this "Nano" nonsense. What do I want? An I-Phone 5 with a Qualcomm chip available for both CDMA and GSM networks. I.E. ALL carriers!
