You folks really do crawl out of the woodwork, don't you. There are no more excuses. The mob of insurrectionist, seditious traitors to this country wear shirts like "6 million wasn't enough." It's out in the open. This is a neo nazi white power movement, and it has merged with what is left of the GOP. This is what is actually happening. ANd we are just not going to allow it any more. The GOP is very very very much out of power.
I love how all of your comebacks tend to be completely off topic and then you somehow throw in a white power or Nazi in there. You have no comeback nor do you denounce anything that happened all summer to the above poster. You just scream racism. 🤦🏼‍♂️

Did you miss the part where I said the guy is an idiot for thinking 6 million wasn’t enough? Am no they haven’t commonly wore it as their motto. I’ve watched many Antifa/Proud Boys clash and this is the first time I’m seeing it. Have they before? Probably, but it definitely isn’t wore commonly.
Do the Proud Boys hold blatantly racist beliefs, as a group, yes or no? Were known white power leaders involved in this attack, centrally, on the Capital, yes or no? Squirm squirm squirm.

Nearly everyone supports locking them up. That’s not a novel position. I support locking them up. Trump says he supports that to. That is the universal position.

But it’s not an attack when they walk into a poorly secured building (why was that - I have no idea) and do some vandalism. Put them all away but don’t blow it out of proportion.
Not just poorly secured. Video shows the Capitol police literally opening the doors for them... them being POed demonstrators, main stream media, known antifa members (some claiming to be there to document the event).

It was bizarre. Many strolled into the building relaxed like it was a tour. Quite the opposite of the billions in damage to businesses in cities we have seen all over the country going back to the last Spring with fireworks, lasers, people with clubs, shields... claimed by the media to be "peaceful demonstrations".

Didn’t Obama’s own brother state that he wasn’t born in the US though? There was question over legitimacy.

And hasn’t Kamala been dishonest about her heritage? I mean she’s pretty blatantly calling herself African American, but she is actually a very small percentage.

How about people just stop pretending to be something they aren’t just to get ahead.
The claim made by his (half) brother wasn't until way after Obama's presidency. The original birthism conspiracies were from the late 2000's:

I don't recall Kamala making false claims. Most of the controversy centered on whether or not she truly lived as a "black American" due to how she grew up:

Right. Because if Obama's name was Joe Smith and was white, his birthplace would totally still have been brought up.
The Birther movement was stupid. But you do know in one of Obama’s books it said he was born in Africa, right? And that he had some other stuff in school records that made it suspicious. So it was all stupid but he made it sus by trying to have an air of intrigue claiming to people at one time or letting it be claimed that he was born elsewhere. So yes if Joe Smith did that there would also probably be a birther movement.

The overarching and general goal of recent Democratic policies for police reforms aren't to make sure cops are unfairly punished for protecting themselves - it's to hold the bad ones accountable like you mentioned. Body cams have been a great start so far, and is something that has bi-partisan support for the most part.

However, even small marginal increases to try to increase accountability have failed because it's become popular to suggest that all Democrats want is to abolish policing.

It’s happened because the loudest democrats want that. Seattle voted to defund their police. So did Milwaukee. Nobody likes A Hole cops. In a perfect world we wouldn’t need cops. But we’re not perfect so that means the cops aren’t perfect either.

I don't need to scream it when the crowd of rioters was screaming racist slogans for all to hear. I totally disavow, wholly, ANY AND ALL violence and destruction of property during protests of ANY TYPE, BY ANY PERSON. People who do this need to be excised from our society. What YOU need to figure out is why in today's poll do 18% of Republicans support what happened on Wednesday? Dump this element, once and for all, and MOVE ON.

The Republican party used to actually have a platform (which was literally thrown out and replaced by total solidarity behind Trump, this is a FACT). The Republican Party used to propose legislation, not just propose ripping up legislation that guarantees people rights, healthcare, a right to clean air and an Earth with a future. What happened is the GOP gradually gave up on this over the past 40+ years, to the point of absolute cartoonish ridiculousness over the past 4 years, and now all you are left with is defending the last vestiges of white power in America. It is a very, VERY sad end to the political party that gave us Lincoln.

A lot of people here don’t seem to understand that Apple doesn’t have a problem with the fact that the app promotes right-wing ideas, but with the fact that the app was used to promote/organize a domestic terrorist attack.

Yet it happened all over Twitter and Facebook all summer long. So it’s their unfair enforcement is what people have an issue with myself included.

This kind of censorship would have the opposite of its intended effect. It will only serve to embolden Trump supporters. Furthermore one could still post to Parler via Safari, just like one can still buy Kindle books via Safari though not in the Amazon app.

Petty Apple. There’s no justification for this action at a company that cares about its customers and guards their private opinions.

Obama never said that. Obama's former literary agency misidentified his birthplace as Kenya while trying to promote the then-Harvard Law grad as an author in 1991. There was nothing suspicious about his school records other than changing his name.

He said it, its on video. He made a HUGE issue of Obama's birth cert. Stop playing dumb.

Wow! It’s on video! Well I can’t believe there’s any way possible I didn’t see it.

Sorry - never flipping saw Trump making a deal about the birth certificate.

I absolutely will NOT get off it. He took a line that was in a response completely out of context, and picked it out to cry racism. It was a pathetic move, even for a liberal.
The funny thing is you have absolutely NO IDEA what many of our political affiliations and beliefs even are. ALL YOU HAVE is Donald Trump and blind allegiance to him, because YOU ARE IN A PERSONALITY CULT. For all you know, the rest of us have beliefs all over the spectrum -- and we just don't like DJT and the attempted violent overthrow of democracy that he and the GOP supported. You assume EVERYTHING about us, because we are not in your personality cult. I actually hold many so-called "conservative" views you probably agree with. None of that matters, really, because the GOP and Donald Trump have nothing to do with policy, and everything to do with fascism and clinging to white power at this point.

I think Apple is LATE on this.

I love how the conservatives in this thread imply that freedom of speech means freedom from accountability.

Having an opinion is one thing. VOICING an "opinion" can can end up inciting harm on someone else should be illegal and prosecuted. Call it censorship if you like, I don't care. FRAK hate speech, and all that hide behind the 1st Amendment to promote it.

All you Trump supporters are COMPLICIT in every single frakked up thing that damn confederate-loving terrorist and his terrorist friends have been up to in the last four years, leading up to an attack on the Capitol Building.

You all make me sick.

I’m not on social media much, so correct me if I’m wrong, but I think Facebook and Twitter at least try, whereas it seems Parler isn’t.

You're referring to that typo in the book jacket? I genuinely believe that in Joe Smith's case, conservatives (I'm picking on them because the birtherism movement was predominately perpetuated by them) would have chalked it up to be a typo, and even fewer would have called for a birth certificate to be produced.

Okay, looked it up--this came out in 2012. The birther movement started before that. So no, this does not seem to be what started the birther movement. What started the birther movement was the fact that Obama was black and had an Arabic-sounding name. That's it.

I mean geez, I wonder how that could have possibly happened -- when Donald Trump is literal in charge of the Federal police forces, and there were orders issued for police and nat guard to stand down and LET THE CROWD INVADE. This was supported from within, and we must remove the cancer.

What all of the "stop the commies!" folks need to maybe consider, is that NO SPEECH IS PROTECTED ON PRIVATE PROPERTY. PERIOD. In the USA we respect private property, we are the NOT-commies, remember. And that means private companies who own private platforms can do WHATEVER THE HELL THEY WANT on them in terms of banning speech they don't like. Just like you can kick someone out of your house who says something you don't like. If you don't like it, maybe go to a communist country where private property isn't respected by the ruling party. Russia or China perhaps?
I don’t know what a stop the commie is but your statement is simplistically true but complicated. What if a park has a long history of being used as a platform for discussion and is in a public road. I buy the park and the road and they are private. I forbid speech on them. The courts actually decided speech could not be forbidden.

Also do we really want the rule to be - whatever Facebook says is ok. Absolute corporation freedom for what have become online digital forums that are nearly monopolies. This seems like a really hard strong rule from people who tend to feel corporations are often evil and corrupt (they are). Maybe they need some regulations to ensure balance? I mean what if a bunch of billionaires buy Twitter and then decide anyone who is proBiden has their messages suppressed? I am pretty free market but this seems like a pretty dangerous position to take which is not entirely consistent with other ways we treat corporations.

It is a progressive misconception that you can prevent „unwanted“ thoughts by suppressing them.

If you take away peoples‘ ability to say what they think, they will express their opinion at the only place where no one can prevent it: In the voting booth.

This will backfire. Badly.
The funny thing is that they apply the same "recipe" everywhere and the results are the same as well. Just look at PCC and North Korea. The main ingredients are: "I decide what you say, I decide what to show to others.".
Like is happening now in the USA.
You have thousands of cases like this:

(just go to minute 18:32)
But if you say that there was an election fraud you get banned even if you are the President of the United States.

I what to live in a world where I can see freedom of expression granted to everyone, my opposition as well.

They went in with zip ties, had guns and Molotov cocktails, and forced almost the entirety of our leaders of Federal government into hiding and lockdown for several hours. But sure, it wasn’t an attack. How delusional.

And they’re planning yet another attack. On Parler.
