So Calif
Has anyone had an issue using an Apple TB3-TB2 adapter in migrating data ?

M1 Mini during setup would not see the Time Machine backup on the external LaCie SSD (TB2) using Apple's TB3-TB2 adapter.

The time machine file on the external SSD would not read at either the transfer startup screen (before account creation) and would not read after the account was setup using Migration Assistant.

Time Machine backup is from a 2015 MBP on Catalina.

M1 did "see" my MBP on the network, but also would not allow data migration.
It's almost as if the Catalina MBP is not compatible with the Big Sur (11.0) ??

BTW after the account was setup, the adapter and external SSD are working as they showed up on the desktop w/ full access.

Can you try with the old device in target mode?
Theoretically it should work.
yes, that worked!

Migration Assistant saw the entire volume and was able to transfer to the M1 in about 30 minutes via TB2-TB3 adapter.

thanks! :)
