Apple to Accept WWDC Scholarship Applications March 27, Lodging Now Included

I know quite a few youngsters who would love to become a registered developer, but they can't. Not as long as Apple want them to use the credit card from their parents. A missed opportunity.

You can register as a free developer. As I recall you only need to pay for something if you want to get a developer license essentially.

i hate to paid 99 dollar just for testing purpose. if not paid cannot use.. And their rule sudden change.. One day unlimited one day 7 day another day show off website saying no need but still need.. Where is the PR ?

** Where march event by da way. Or we all have to wait on jun event ? I'm pretty sad now

Glad that they're including lodging with the scholarship. While I've never been to WWDC nor California, I've been to a number of weeklong conventions in various places. I'd get a $1500 budget from work for the basics (food, lodging, flight to & from the convention & cab fare to & from meals).I've often hit or almost hit that budget. So I can understand needing a little extra help to afford to go.

Many of us have preferences as to what hotel we stay in, I get what you are saying but to me it would just be a $500 price increase with zero benefit.

Also, even with a corp rate my experience is that there isn't much around San Jose that you could book for $125/night (four nights for $500). They likely exist but they'd be pretty seedy places. Mid-range around SJC is typically more like $300/night, nice places closer to $500/night (non-suite).

During the height of AC2 construction in 2014 / 2015 (when it was the most intrusive to the surrounding area) I stayed multiple times at the Courtyard on Wolfe. Very nice place, and well under $200. I am sure Apple could get it - and others like it - for the $125 pricing, or close if they wanted to.

Understand your point though about brand preference. Being close to Platinum on Marriott would not benefit me if they put me in a new Holiday Inn...

But alas... I am also not a developer, so it's not for me to worry much with. 🙂 If you go, enjoy!
