Steve Woz said it was...I think so too. Changing the way we authenticate and pay, securely, privately, effortlessly? Pretty cool to me.
It is cool but google had that google wallet thing before. I do agree that Apple have the best implementation becuase of the watch.

The second most profitable quarter in history for a publicly-traded private company (setting aside some accounting anomalies).

Apple made $19.965 billion in the quarter, about $100 million less than it made in the year ago quarter. That's pretty impressive considering the extrinsic issues it had to deal with.

When will all of you 4 inchers realize you are in the minority?
How many iphone 5 5s SE are still in circulation i can tell you its a lot. combined it will be a lot more then al the X models combined. and all these people will not upgrade to a 1000+ dollar phone...

Total revenue was down $4.0 billion YoY while revenue from Greater China was down $4.8 billion. So, yeah, that's about 120% of the total YoY decline.

It doesn't matter if Google had Wallet before Apple Pay. Those two systems are not like each other. This is a tired argument akin to "the iPod wasn't the first MP3 player."

Google what "semantics" mean. But go ahead and try to explain the meaning of the words "shortfall/deficit/loss" by using math. Good luck. You cannot explain your mathematical findings without "using" language.

China cannot account for (for example) 105% of a loss. That 5% is money, they have NOT LOST because they've made more than expected elsewhere.

Same paradoxon with the "more than 100% of the profits". You cannot take more than the entire profit that an industry makes. If the others lose money, they have made no profit. A profit is by definition a financial gain. A loss is not a negative profit, a loss is no profit at all, because there is no gain.

Fascinating how long you need to realize that I never doubted the math, but your choice of words.
Yes, I do know what semantics mean. But answer me this. If you understood the meaning of what Tim Cook said (and what Baymowe quoted), then why are you even arguing the point?

So we just received confirmation.

The revenue shortfall y/y was $3.8B.

CHINA alone was down $4.7B (over 100% of the revenue shortfall). This means if China would have only performed as well as last year (no growth) and everything else remained the same, APple would have posted almost $1B more in sales this year.

So it’s a cheaper phone they want? Or do they want a smaller phone? Or both?

yes you look and think oke ... but read between the lines
These figures are really warped and distorted and only mask the real trouble apple is in.

UNIT SALES ARE WAY DOWN , to mask this they bumpt the price a lot. this back fired a lot . in a real panic the last month apple started discounting and promoting Xr like crasy to make up for the lack in sales. They have never discounted a current model so much before. Take all this in account i say cook start packing your bags your magic has run out. Apple board go shopping for some one with vision !! if not apple will be run in the ground by accountants.

Was just reporting what I saw. Interesting that Cook has said they will price iPhones in foreign currencies from here on out.

$130 billion cash on the books. So they did spend quite a bit this year.

Yes they want to be cash zero or something like that. Good idea to buy back their own shares.

Also I see now that it was not record earnings, but pretty darn close to record earnings.

Double digit growth in services with 62% margin on services. That’s big stuff all on its own. Nothing out there compares to this monster company.

Yeah they really need to use more of it. $120 billion in a year is a lot of TV shows.

They are both based on nfc payments.

So basically the China issues is really the reason for what has happened.
I'm seeing so many Xs/XS max around now. I don't think Apple are having problems selling phones in the UK.

There's more because the 5 has been on sale since 2012 onwards. The X and Xs max has only been on sale for 15 months.

I think they would do good to acquire HBO and keep it branded as HBO so they can keep the 18+ content like WestWorld and stuff like that. I don't know much about that one, but just saying.

Disney would be an obvious buy for Apple and the content is already G rated.

Netflix has really transformed it's. content in the last few years - lots of good stuff to watch on Netflix now - just imagine when Netflix was all about mailing DVD's back and forth eh? I sure missed that stock - was not interested and saw Netflix as over valued. Maybe it still is. I'll just keep holding AAPL.

They don't report unit sales anymore haha.

Anyway - it might be true - but so what. Happy customers matter most. Next year a lot of people will be upgrading to used iPhones that are better than the antiques they are holding on to. High rollers will buy the latest top quality produce from Apple. It's all good.

I was encouraged by the MR article that the streaming service should be up and running in April. I agree on buying Disney. HBO would also be nice. If you have APPL it would be crazy not to hold it at this point. I am not sure if I will add to it right now. I was hoping for a slight miss and a price decrease. I guess today I just enjoy the gains and leave it at that.

The other nice thing is AAPL along with AMD did well today and it seems there are more after hours buyers and all my stocks are much better than before the bell.

Any sensible will see Cook's >100% China loss as double-speak by a PR man.

Fourth quarter (Q4) earnings in China: 2018 - $1,141 million, 2017 - $9,801 million. That is up year-on-year 16%! Europe is up 18% for the same period, these two markets up the least.

iPhones are still up 212 million units in Q4 alone.

The bad news is the unit sales numbers for iPads - worldwide! That is 16% down for the corresponding quarters; revenue is also down 14%.

As promised, no breakdown of individual model sales numbers, all products!

Lower Mac unit sales, revenue up; guess that happens when the price per unit has changed up so much from the previous year.

Still, a massive earning uptick for Apple. Guess the stock market will tell how it sees these numbers.

I think AAPL will be twice the market cap in 7 years pretty easily. Hard to stop that from happening even. The stock should go way up, so long term outlook is amazing. Day to day changes do not even really matter. Of course I'd like Apple to be back up to $230 - heck I would say it should be $300. But it doesn't really make me worry if the stock drops. It just makes me wonder who is controlling the media more than anything else :)

All or maybe nearly All the money that Apple makes is going into share buybacks and dividend increases of 10% per year, so it helps if you get in and hold because your dividend as a percentage of your actual dollars investment can get big. This is just another perspective to look at when deciding to get in long term.

And yet another proof they’re more interested in margins than customers. Although he tells otherwise.

Well high margins make it easier to advance the tech in the products the customers love.

The two go hand in hand if you think about it.

It’s good they are not starving at Apple. Quite the contrary, they are the most solid company out there! That’s a good place to be. They can afford not to use Slave labour, they can afford to be green. They can afford to be good.

They misuse the picture of being good. They still chose the cheapest manufacturers and clue all their products together so they can’t be upgraded or repaired. Very green indeed. Like their privacy approach, it’s purely pr.
