Can they really still go forward with this fine when Apple introduced new features to let alternative streaming services be more tightly integrated with iOS and then Spotify just decided not to use them?
Yeah this is like some officials are unaware of iOS 17.4 is close to being completed offering alt stores for the EU you hear about this again. How above they utilize the remedy first then complain?

I get that you may WANT all services for free

The fact that you said this makes me think you don't get what I'm saying at all. I've never said I want all services for free. I just don't want Messi's face popping up at me bugging me to subscribe to MLS when I'm trying to watch something I bought from Apple, in the only app Apple will allow me to view it in. That is a real thing that has happened to me, and more than once since it happened on every device.

I don't think that's too much to ask. I give Apple plenty of money every month, but it's not because they keep popping advertisements up at me. I can just use Google and Amazon if I want everything I do to be littered with ads.

What's weird is how EU never goes after Google...
Yes, it is very weird that the EU has never gone after Alphabet/Google. Ever.

No, its like having a sign on a product in Target telling the customer that they can get the same product cheaper by going to the manufacturers own store.
Guess what, in EU we have a law that when a product is on sale they have to show the average price of the last 30 or 90 days. I do in fact find that a good thing, so that manufacturers are less likely to scam people with their fantasy-RRP (Hello Samsung). So idk why US People are so against consumers and therefore themselves.

You can compare EU vs US prices & think carefully who gets scammed…. :D

Feb 18 (Reuters) - The European Union is set to fine Apple (AAPL.O), opens new tab about 500 million euros ($539 million) over alleged breaches of EU competition law, the Financial Times reported on Sunday citing unnamed sources.
The fine is expected to be announced early next month, the FT said.

Last year, the European Commission accused Apple of distorting competition in the music streaming market via App Store rules that prevent developers from informing users of other purchasing options.

Both the European Commission and Apple declined to comment on the FT report

Note that neither the European Commission or Apple are saying anything about this rumor which seems to fly in the face of the recent EU DMA changes by Apple to remediate this issue.

So what then? Ask for link, diss the given link as rubbish and articles can say anything, then argue that you cant be bothered with links? Is that what it was?
Exactly. If someone wants to win a battle on the internet, for me, they can have it. It's not worth the time or effort to prove who pays the artists more and is not really that germane to the thread topic.

You mean health care prices? Or tuition for university education? How much does a ER visit cost in the US again?

The iPhone Pro is around 10% more expensive, if that's what you meant. It varies though and depends on the exchange rate. Sometimes there is price parity, sometimes it's more expensive. Righ now the USD is very strong and since Apple only occasionally adjusts pricing, it got quite expensive in comparison.

Keep in mind that posted Apple prices for European countries include VAT while U.S. prices do not include sales tax.

For example, the pre-VAT price of a 128GB iPhone 15 in Germany is €791 which is currently around $852 USD. That's only slightly more than the pre-sales tax price of the same phone in the U.S. ($829). Of course, exchange rate fluctuations (which are out of Apple's control) are another factor.

Well I can answer this question. That is bandcamp it has been a source for music for many years. Artists post their works there and you can sample what you like. You can than purchase them the Artist gets 80% of your money and the work goes into your cloud library where you can download on demand in MP3 FLAC, and ALAC. When available I always purchase a CD copy. They ask for a minimum price which I always add too.

On the Classical side there is IDAGIO. This is a subscription service which like Bandcamp allows you to directly support artists. Your monthly subscription gives you things like live concerts.

I have really moved on Apple Music is my go to source because of how it works with my Apple Stuff. But Bandcamp, Idagio, Soundcloud, Youtube Music, Amazon Prime music are all part of the mix. Spotify will never inhabit any of my devices.
