Actually, by the end of this Christmas season, Apple will have probably sold over 70 million iPhone 7 models.
Exactly. Somehow people have already decided that it's rubbish.

The only features we'll see are:

  1. Dual-camera setup
  2. Removal of the 3.5mm headphone jack
  3. Removal of antenna bands that run directly across the device (the top and bottom ones will remain)
  4. 3D Touch Home button
  5. Waterproof/water-resistant (iOS 10 beta 3 added a warning when the connector detects liquid)
  6. Dual speakers
  7. New storage options up to 256GB
  8. True Tone display and possibly a Wide Colour display too
  9. New colour (possibly space black to match the Apple Watch)
  10. New Gorilla Glass 5
  11. May ship with Lightning connected EarPods
  12. Smart Connector
  13. Wireless charging (possible but most likely to come next year with the iPhone 8)
And the A10 chip is as powerful as the A9X chip but the iPhone's are a lot smaller so imagine the power we'll get out of it.

This news stinks. One of the few remaining positives about Apple IMO was their reticence to shove ads in people's faces at every turn.

I can hear Tim say: 'It's amazing and you'll only going to see this at Apple. We're the only company able doing this. It's really amazing and it's FOR YOU'

The problem is it's actually the opposite. Apple is now just like any other company in many respects. Focus is on pushing sales first, actual innovation and customer experience come second and third (at best). The difference from many other companies is that Apple has millions upon millions of customers who will still buy their outdated or underperforming stuff because they think it's still cool, they're stuck in the ecosystem, they don't know better stuff is out there, they have money to burn, and/or they're still holding out hope that Apple will one day put something above sales, or at least at the same level as sales, again.

it wont be until the doors of the walled garden are sealed shut that you realize they're no different re: your data than google. of course they wont sell it to third parties, why would they when you have no other option than Apple

My only purchase history is Apple hardware. I never buy anything else from the Apple Store because I can often get it from Amazon for 20-40% less.

It's kinda weird that Apple is just now adding a feature that most retail websites have had since the late 90s/early 2000s.

Oh good! One more thing stalking me and storing personal information. Apple is getting more like Google everyday.

Wish people would stand up against all this data collection. But it will continue because #

Really? I find it a pain in the arse to use. It's too clever for its own good. Why do all the tabs and menus have to disappear all the time? I find it slow and clunky, the very opposite of the Apple that Steve Jobs built.

I guess I've never really had issues with the App Store. It's always been reliable and my go to when pre-ordering, especially when the website gets bogged down.

All those who are running iOS 8 or less can no longer use the app. Useless.
Of course. With todays Apple I expect no less than forcing customers to update.

Oh, and I'm sure...nay...very sure it is because the Apple Store app is soooo advanced it needs the new OS. It is just impossible otherwise!!! Could never be run on anything else!

So Apple is going to tell me what they think I like? Never worked very well with Amazon, eBay etc...
Actually, not a counter argument but just a data point: Amazon has done this pretty well for me on a number of occasions (of course, also getting it hilariously wrong half the time).

You forgot to list it will be thinner and increased battery size is also reported.

Apple's taking a page from for app store iOS.. Apple music.. "For you" good for you :)

Wish apple would spend more time working on and fixing the stuff (FaceTime, Safari, etc) I use everyday, rather than the stuff (store) I use once a year. Definitely have lost focus on what's important to the customer. I mean WTF, even store.apple.com is gone.

Apple will soon introduce a redesigned version of its dedicated Apple Store app, reports Bloomberg. The new version of the app, which is used to make online purchases of Apple products, will feature custom recommendations for new products to buy based on purchase history.

After at least 2 or 3 updates, the Apple Store app still isn't optimized for the flagship 12 inch iPad Pro. Must not be on Apple's list of recommended products...

Not really interested in this new iphone except if the 6S Plus starts lagging on iOS 10. The beta wasn't a great sign but it's beta so who knows. But at most it's a year device because who isn't going to want the much hyped, all glass, OLED iphone 7 next year?

Keep in mind, the 6 Plus was a bendable lag fest and quite possibly Apple's worst iphone ever made. The A9, its significant leap, and some other hardware fixes made the 6S Plus tolerable (but not great) even given that it's still having to constantly downsample to 1080p which is still a compromise. iOS 10 could easily make that not so tolerable given each new version of iOS needs more to run it.

Friendly reminder below for those who may have forgotten...

https://medium.com/we-are-appcepted...phone-6-1080p-display-b33dac5bbcb6#.iqvlb5k37

Apple has decided to run its biggest iPhone ever at a native resolution of 1242px by 2208px. It’s enough screen estate to show a lot more content than iPhone 5S and iPhone 6. Unfortunately, it is only virtually written on the software side. On the hardware, Apple has to use lower resolution 1080p panel as its physical display representation. Through the downsampling magic, 1242px by 2208px content on iPhone 6+ will be rendered into 1920px by 1080px display at the same 5.5" physical size.

Why didn’t Apple just get it right instead of a compromise? Good question then, but hey, it's nearly 2 years later now. Should this still be a compromise? Given no rumor to the contrary, I have to assume yet another year of compromise is upon us.
