Ah, now I see, stealing without the use of force is ok. Thanks for clearing that up Judge Judy.

No, no, no. You've got it all wrong. Stealing without getting caught is OK.

;)

Honestly, though, it isn't an argument you're going to win. There is always some self proclaimed "crusader" on every board who likes to brag about how much music he pirates and then feels the need to publicly justify it, or explain how it's not really bad. it doesn't affect anyone because no physical property is taken, there is no force/violence, the musicians are unaware of it, the-music-sucks-anyway-so-why-bother-paying....

The list goes on and on...

Ya, because I clearly said that. You compared robbing banks to downloading music for free, heck if that was the case I'd be in jail a million times over. It really takes a criminal mastermind to download music doesn't it? And now you have to "suffer" because of it due to the "low ethical standards" people that download music for free have? Oh lawd have mercy on our souls!

Ass. Do honesty and integrity mean anything to you?

This is great, but where are the iTunes Apple Lossless downloads? ... I know a lot of people use iPods and crappy speakers to listen to their music, but considering iTunes has a built in "convert all tracks to 128kbps before sync" option, it really is stupid to not sell lossless now.

I agree. I rip all my CDs in lossless and then convert them if need be. I want the *best* quality. My iPod (5th Generation) has a large enough hard drive that it holds all the lossless songs I want to listen to at any given time as well. But, if I ever get a smaller iPod, I would use the convert-before-sync option (though I submitted a requested for Apple to allow you to CHOOSE the bit rate for that!).

:D

Or it only catches the best 30 seconds of the song. You buy and find out the song is utter crap otherwise. I have a handful like that.
I'd love a full 25 kbps preview myself. Not enough to make me want to rip it off but enough to hear it all. I know I used to preview full albums before and it was not until the second or third go around that I suddenly enjoyed the album.

This!^^

Read my first post and tell me how I'm a "self-proclaimed crusader," or how I like to "brag about how much music I pirate," the list goes on and on..

I also would like it if Apple did what Lala did - full play once, then 30 seconds.

But, I will settle for a minute as it is much better at catching the songs hooks.

Ass. Do honesty and integrity mean anything to you?

It sure does, and honestly, you are an idiot. Downloading music for free makes me a dishonest person? I pay my taxes, make an honest living, who am I exactly hurting by downloading music? The musicians? Oh no, I wonder how they are going to feed themselves and make a living. Jeez, you people make it out to be like I'm robbing a charity, get real.

This type of attitude and name calling really bugs me. Do you realize that there are many more people involved in the creation of a song than just the musicians? In fact, most people in the music industry don't really make that much money.

And what if people decided to take whatever you so honestly made without giving you compensation for your services? Would that be alright with you? And to answer your question, it does make you a dishonest person.

Anyway, to get back on topic, 60 second previews are a much needed and welcome improvement. It should have happened long ago.

Thought: If they let me listen to the song in full as a preview, them what is my incentive to buy it unless I need it on my iPod/Pad. The only thing you can do with purchased iTunes music is load it onto an iDevice or listen to it on the computer(custom CDs if you still do that). I guarantee you there would be people who would just get on iTunes and pick songs they wanted to listen to without ever intending to buy.

I believe this is why iTunes is set-up this way. Then you don't have people using iTunes as a "pick your own song" Slacker or Pandora radio.

Maybe if they all didn't but ridiculously big mansions and have to pay 20-50k for their electric bill they wouldn't be bankrupt or close to broke from people taking their music when they make up for it in concerts and sponsorships. Like Bustin Jeeber that kid needs to quit before someone makes him. He's getting a lot of publicity and it's getting cliche and annoying as ****!

I completely agree! C'mon give me the ability to listen to the album in lossless format. You know I would be mad if I was an music artist and they kept pushing this mp3 bull crap, at least give me the ability to get what I want.

how come you dont just download the aac file then convert to lossless in itunes, thats what i do. is it that much different than buying the cd and converting it

Honestly it's clueless people like you that know nothing about the industry so you're opinion isn't valid. Justin B may have TONS of publicly but the kid is FAR from getting paid. He doesn't write, he barely sell records and he damn sure doesn't produce anything. People LIKE YOU only believe what you see. He's not rich and he doesn't have much pocket money, at all. Neither does Rihanna.

To the other guy/or girl who steals music (iWonderwhy) I'm really not judging you, but when people say "I'm not hurting anyone" or "It's just free music it's not like I'm robbing a bank". . . you do contribute to the reason why some people (Producers, songwriters, entertain industry as a whole) suffer. And to you that may not mean anything past my post but for some of us that's really a low blow. And I do agree if the artist suck why paid for their crap. But the better thing to do is just ignore/don't download it for free either. You're going to do whatever you want man but it is like robbing a rob. You're taking something that you don't own. Everything has a price, and Limewire is the devil. If you don't have a Mac I hope you get a Virus. . . jkjk Kind of. :). . .

Okay my rant is over. Sorry guys, I really dislike people that steal music. It's personal and it's the industry I support/work in.
