What you’re suggesting would be a huge dereliction of soccer broadcasting norms. I don’t see it happening.
What most networks do at the very worst is show a split-screen ad during something that pauses the action such as an injury. Those are easy to ignore by simply keeping your eyes to the right.
EDIT: Also, bear in mind that I'm seeing these ads on channels that I pay an extra $89/yr to my cable provider for, because they're out-of-market games. Frankly, even if they do interrupt the action with a few ads here and there, they're saving me money with this service, and to me that's a fair trade.
I'm late to this game... sorry.
But there's always ads during the game. The score box always has pop-ups next to it, the Adidas logo and name. Snickers. Coca Cola. Whatever. Then there's the boxes they superimpose on either side of the net. The also very-visible video banner boards along the sidelines.
What I see happening is the same I'm seeing in the NHL these days. The boards carry ads that are printed on them, you see the static images in person when attending. On TV now, at least on MSG, they're whitewashing the entirety of the boards, and running ads on them while they're playing - and they look damn good, truthfully.
Now, let's merge these two, with an Apple, or Google, or Amazon... knowing certain habits of yours. Instead of selling that space for a specific time... they use the metadata to drive ad sales and you have custom ads in these spaces, specific to you. Don't buy Adidas? You see a Nike next to the score. Don't drink Coke? Pepsi for you. The running video boards on the sidelines, a huge canvas for whatever they want to run. Technology opens up many possibilities without fundamentally changing the viewing experience you are already accustomed to today.
