Like everyone else thats going to keep on saying: ""ABOUT FRIGGIN TIME" LOL!;):p:D I swear I hated listening to30 sec. of Dance/Electronic music which takes a while to even get to the good part of the song now finally I will be able to enjoy a bit more first and not have a difficult time to decide if I want to buy it.

Next step Apple is: fix the Album cover download issues at downloading correctly or the correct ones and also I don't know if this has to do with the Record Labels how they upload it on iTunes but can we separate tracks but gapless rather than one whole track with no track listings? Apple finally is doing something interesting to iTunes unlike ping and the lame design changes iTunes 10 got that made people mad about it.

This actually would probably increase music sales because instead of browsing on iTunes I just type the name of a song into Youtube and listen to it on there to see if I like it and even if I do doesn't mean I will remember to buy it.

I don't think an update is necessary. It's all on the iTunes Store.

not even for the itunes app, i could understand itunes 10, i forgot it wasnt on the computer but apple had to update the app to add ping so i would assume it would be the same for the preview

Ping is a completely new service so yeah that needs an app update to work. However increasing the limit doesn't require Apple to rework the app itself at all, since it's using it's own servers for that all it has to do is tell it to play 90 secs instead of 30.

What about songs that are less than 90 seconds?

I'm always amazed that on page one of the comments there is often someone who's reading comprehension and retention is so low that they post a questions that was well covered in the opening story.

iTunes is an amazing program. Apple can even add songs to the store without updating iTunes.

This is good. I don't think I've ever once liked a new song after listening to a 30 second itunes preview, but numerous times I really like those same songs after downloading the full version (not from itunes, of course).

Next they need to work on improving the top songs. What's on top is way too static and narrow in my opinion. They should weight the music's trend in addition to its sales or popularity so upcoming music rises faster and old music falls faster. This would allow for more rapid turnover and hopefully a wider variety of music in high visibility positions.

I remember a time when Tower records would let you listen to the whole cd before you made your purchase. I think they went out of business... So yeah I'm loving it, this way I wont waste my money. :D

No Canada? Boo you Apple.

But hey, we still have unlocked iPhones and a much better 3G network... :D CAN YOU SAY 7 MBPS?

I find it funny that contracts with music labels can be modified with the same page of terms and conditions us normal humans have to accept for most pieces of software.

And that that was shorter than any of the ones us normal consumers have to read through. :p

:)

Hooray, more US favouritism!

IANAL, but I'd be willing to bet that this isn't blatant US favoritism and is rather an issue of licensing. There are different licensing and distribution agreements based on which country you're in, and iTunes has to abide by all of those. There are quite a few international artists I'd love to buy, but I can't because their label doesn't allow for US distribution.

It sucks, but what can you do? Hopefully Apple will be able to work out deals in other countries very soon.

Not only I am ecstatic, but this is very well set up. They say, here are our new terms, thank you for complying, if not it was nice doing business with you. I like the authoritative vibe that Apple puts off in this message.

Why does so much happen to only the US?

Because apple is based here. Maybe Canada should just go ahead and create their own Apple, then you would get special treatment

The way too short previews are exactly why I didn't buy much music from iTunes. That might change now.

Artists not being distributed in the U.S. gets on my nerves. There's been a few times I would have gladly given them money to buy music, but I can't! Don't want to pirate music from people I want to support!

Good point.

The 30 second previews were useless. I've never bought a song because of a 30 second preview. I have bought song that I heard in full on youtube many times however.

I don't live in the United States, but I have no problem with this. Apple is a company based in the United States. Why shouldn't they favor their home turf?

True.

We've got Spotify in Europe so we can listen to the whole album from start to finish before deciding if we want to buy it. :D

we also have we7 lastfm and a fair few other options as well. 90 seconds seems like a good time frame to get a good idea of what you might be buying
