It's either Cascade Lake or Cooper Lake if the timeline is still 2019. Ice Lake (10nm) comes in 2020.

AMD motherboards can support Thunderbolt using an Intel TB controller.

I was talking about what I hope the next AMD platform will be.
Lol No. Tell me which AMD CPU and Motherboard can use TB3? AMD CPU does not have a TB3 controller. Only Intel CPU has them. First of all, TB is owned by Intel and Apple.

Try TB3 PCIe slot on AMD motherboard. You wont be able to use it due to lack of TB3 controller.

What did I write? That it is possible does not mean there's any motherboard.

An AM3+ motherboard with Intel TB was once planned but never happened apparently because of monopolistic licensing blockage.

Possible doesnt mean they can. Intel wont let AMD use TB3 forever. Im talking about OFFICIAL uses and yet you never mentioned anything about the official statement.

"AMD motherboards can support Thunderbolt using an Intel TB controller."

That's what you said and yet NONE of them have TB3 controller.

I think there was an Intel move to open up TB. Maybe a trade with Kaby Lake G.

Dream on. The product line should be fully transitioned to ARM by that time. The last 2 times Apple jumped to a new CPU platform, 68k->ppc and ppc->intel, once the transition starts there are no product updates on the old silicon.
