If this leads to the App Store app not being filled with game ads all the time anymore, that would be an improvement. That doesn’t seem particularly likely, though.
If it also removes games and the Arcade tab from the AppStore entirely, I’m all for it. I would like to be able to find indie app gems again. And bring back the AppStore wishlist! Having a separate place for games would make it easier for orgs and edu provisioning to disable games too.

Can we please get Mega Run: Redford's Adventure (by Get Set Games) back on the app store, along with Monsters Run etc...thx

Also;

Ninjatown: Trees of Doom

It’s definitely not up to PC or console levels, but I’m currently playing Death Stranding, RoboCop, Wuthering Waves, Firewatch, and soon Cyberpunk on my Mac. Seems some full blown AAA games are playable and more are coming.
Currently playing Death Stranding on my M3 mba (sometimes, my m1 ipad pro).

I've already played it before and most certainly it's better on PS4/PS5, but still it is quite nice to play a lovely title on Mac.

Gaming still sucks on iOS for the most part and Apple doesn't know how to let others do their own thing. It kills the possibility of what Apple could do for the reason of pure greed. They won't deploy this and it work well. Hasn't happened in over a decade, won't change now. But I would love to be proven wrong.

Definitely not related to the Epic Games Store feud. Definitely not.

Yep, Apple’s definitely not trying to steer people away from using it. Just a coincidence I’m sure.

If it doesn't look like this I'll be pissed

I think there's something interesting here about the market for AAA games on App Store / Mac App Store.

If I buy a game on Steam, that'll generally mean I get it for Windows, macOS, and Linux - whatever versions the developer has made. But if I buy the same game on the App Store, I get it on .... macOS

Now of course the calculation changes when 32-bit macOS games and/or Intel macOS games are no longer compatible, but in general using the Mac App Store has less value simply because it is less flexible.

I'd argue that them now offering (some) games to be playable across the entire ecosystem does offer additional value, but in true Apple fashion they're the only ones offering this because they're the only ones allowed.

I'd like Valve and Microsoft and whoever else to be able to offer me something similar on my iPhone and Mac/PC and have Apple compete on merit.

They should complete the AI Siri they set out to do and never completed first (they already broke their promise once) and then worry about other projects.

I’m very curious about what this app will look like. I wish the game I play had a Game Center leaderboard. As it is, it only has an in-game leaderboard that I was on until it became absolutely overrun with android-using cheaters.

Pair it with a Vision Pro. Hard to go back to my PlayStation when Mac to Vision allows virtually no latency and I can play on the BIG screen. PlayStation also streams to Vision, but since it’s not Airplay it has to go through the router which adds latency that the Mac to Vision doesn’t have.

Granted yes, I know not many have a Vision Pro.

Such a good game though!

Flip side is I do like playing a game on my Mac, then getting it also for my iPhone. For instance, I started playing Death Stranding and Sniper Elite 4 on my Mac, streamed to the Vision for the BIG screen. Then when I’m at work, I can do some side missions and “reading emails” in Death Stranding on my iPhone while at work. Nice to be able to start a game on my Mac and pick it up on my phone.

Also really like that I have all my gaming achievements on one platform, built into my main devices. If Apple regularly got console games, I’d sell my PS5 and just exclusively use Apple.

Really hoped to see less default apps… iTunes should be merged into Apple Music as a dedicated page like on macOS. FaceTime and Phone could be merged (I’m really hoping they don’t merge Messages with those two personally, but it’s an option). Freeform, Journal, and Playground should not be pre-installed at all - even if they followed the behavior of iWork, Apple Store, iMovie, GarageBand, or Clips (though maybe Freeform could follow this behavior actually). Or if it’s so important, just end Clips and replace it with Journal since Journal is actually updated (and more people probably use it than they do Clips).

I don’t know. I’m not Apple and they ain’t reading these forums. Just purely my opinion, nothing more nothing less.

Just bring back a revamped Game Center. Made zero sense why they scrapped it to begin with and buried the stuff in Settings, especially considering all the useless apps they've released since doing that.

Really hoping Apple starts competing more on sales. So frustrating to see Mac games constantly going on sale on Steam but constantly full price on the Mac App Store.
