iPad HD for pro's?

Love Apple and their products. FCP X is a misstep.....but, they will take the "constructive" criticisim and make it much better. But, an iPad HD for Pro's to use with FCP X and Aperture? I'm trying to think what I could do with 64GB? They'll have an answer for that one too.:apple:

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8J2 Safari/6533.18.5)

Apple is simply going to streamline their product offerings. There will be an iPad 3G (that works on all carriers) and an iPad Wi-Fi. Furthermore there will be an iPhone '3G' (that works on all carriers) and an iPhone 'Wi-Fi' (iPod Touch 'replacement'). They will bump up the storage across all models (32, 64 and 128 for iPad, 32 and 64 for iPhone). iPod will be reserved strictly for their click wheel media players, iPod Shuffle and iPod 'classic' (later of which will get a redesign making it smaller but with a bigger touch-enabled screen - similar in design to the previous iPod Nano and switching to flash storage in a 256G configuration - they will also bring back the camera from the previous Nano with improved specs). This will be their '10th anniversary' iPod, though that won't be it's official name. Only thing that isn't clear is if Apple will add in a performance spec bump for the new iPad (higher resolution, more ram, etc). They are more likely to avoid any consumer backlash and hold off on a refresh even though iPad will already be about six months old by then. Anyway, that's what's most likely to happen. Certain details may change (esp. with the iPhone naming) so wait until September for confirmation.

Free?

 I like the possibility that the newest iPad will be FREE, because that's what "complimentary means. Hallelujah!

Unless, of course, they really meant to say "complementary"

The iphone "fell out of favor" with us, too, after my young son dropped it on Day One and shattered the glass front. (Short drop; any other phone I've ever owned would have survived it). I'm an Apple guy; we make our living using Apple products. But this phone is the worst phone I've ever owned (mostly thanks to AT&T, but the all-glass design was just stupid).

Next time-PLEASE--put function over form, just this once. Why? Because it's a PHONE. Make it RUGGED! Make it SLIP-PROOF. Just make one like that for the rest of us who aren't so flashy, okay?
I've carried the iPhone 4 since launch day, with only a bumper on it, I don't baby it either and it still doesn't even have a scratch.

Apple isn't in the business of "rugged"...if you want rugged, get one of those old Nextel phones or throw an Otterbox defender on it. Beauty is Apple's game and, thankfully, that's not going to change.

But *it is OK* - as evidenced by the fact that a huge number of the people who lined up in the spring will also line up in the fall, to replace their obsolete spring Ipad 2s.

No, not all, some might feel betray, and decide not to buy everything apple make. Maybe they will jump to another computer company to worship, maybe even microsoft.

Nah, people who worship corporations aren't going to change over a quick product cycle...it'll just be "they love us so much they gave us more this quickly! They're even further ahead!"

Heck, I remember when iPods seemed like more of a 6 month cycle :D

 Cant wait to see if this is true!? Will need to update all my ipad wallpapers to hight resolution - or - should I make a pro pack with high resoluton wallpapers for $10?

A shot in the foot

Why would apple introduce an additional model while the iPad 2 is fresh and already a hot item? That's like shooting themselves in the foot. The iPhone 4 took longer than usual to refresh (so far nothing yet) but apple introduced Verizon model to push more sales around the usual refresh time, then introduced the same model in white to test the market on both variations. Apple is buying time before introducing the iPhone 5 since a new phone won't be introduced with an old iOS. iOS 5 will look much sweeter on iPhone 5 especially few iOS options that will only be functional on iPhone 5. So iPad HD or iPad 2S? I don't think so! Me be next year!

Though it does make you wonder how much longer OS X has to live.

I don't reckon OS X will go anywhere (iOS is built on OS X anyway isn't it?), I reckon we'll get an integrated product alla Windows 8, only being Apple it'll probably be done a lot more gracefully. Having said that, perhaps Apple will invent/copy an even better solution.

Well now that we have rumors of 1080p video content coming to iTunes, we'd need a higher-resolution display on the iPad 2 to properly show it, so why not a Retina Display?

No, not all, some might feel betray, and decide not to buy everything apple make. Maybe they will jump to another computer company to worship, maybe even microsoft.

No they won't. Apple could update the iPhone and iPad twice a year and people will be lined up for blocks to buy them. Especially the true Apple fanatics. They may complain, but they will buy in record numbers. I would like to see Apple do this to completely freak out the competition. The other companies can't keep up now, imagine how far they'd fall with twice a year updates? In a few years all other companies would be bankrupt and Apple would be the only tech company left which is what you all really want anyway. Then once they are the only company left, they can stop updating completely as there will be no competition.

I'm sure a hidef screen will be beautiful. However, the current screen is fine but just a bit small. How about a 14" or 15" screen so "full-page" PDFs can be read without zooming in?

Remember all the things that weren't practical on the iPhone became practical with the iPad simply due to the screen size. Imagine what could be done with an even larger screen.

I think the screen size is just right - any bigger would be too cumbersome.

...But I'm curious: how many of you would like to own an iPad as your only computer, if it could connect to your peripherals and do all the tasks you need to do?

I would, with the exception of gaming (still need a kick-arse Windows PC for that, unless OnLive really takes off (Apple TV please!)

iPad Pro.
Now there's a joke. What the hell does Apple know about Pro anything?

Back when Apple was a computer company, they had a bit of an idea by looking at the Pro Workstation ThinkPad laptops and the like.

Now in recent times, it's all about dumbing down anything that Granny can't use, even if she is 92...ha..ha...ha... (sad but true)

Then I read this:

"The current iPhone 4 design is said to have fallen "out of favor" with Apple executives, leading to the substantial efforts to introduce a redesigned form factor only a little over a year after the iPhone 4's debut."

Translation:

We Apple, with our tail between our legs, are finally admitting we really screwed up with the iPhone 4, and to make all those bad memories go away we are redesigning the phone.

To which I say:

Finally!

I will be the first to heap praise on Apple if ( that could be a big IF ) they finally design and build a phone that's truly worthy of the Apple Logo, and the quality reputation from the past.

One that is capable of going head to head with the Galaxy S II, and having a chance to match Samsung's performance, refinement, and gorgeous display.

Yet that said and to cover all the facts, Apple has CONvinced more people than ever, it's not the performance that counts, it's all about looking cool.

The public bought into that story, hook, line, and sinker.

iPhone 4s sold as though they were the best, and Apple put another check mark next to the "Magical & Revolutionary" myth.

You've got to love em, who else could pull shenanigans like they do. Simply Brilliant :)

I would love a Retina Display iPad, I've been wanting one ever since I first looked from my iPhone 4 to my original iPad and frowned a bit (still love the iPad though). That's why I didn't upgrade to the iPad 2 (that and I just can't afford to buy a new iPad every year!). Bit worried that an iPad Pro would be insanely expensive though.

The current iPhone 4 design is said to have fallen "out of favor"

Nooooo, the iPhone 4 is beautiful! Just put some sort of varnish on the antenna or something to stop people's skin from messing it up!

Sounds like they want a new creation that doesn't carry the stigma of bad engineering.

And funny enough here I am with a 'Angry Birds' case on it and I get a perfect full bars signal in my area (I live outside the US). Maybe the focus should be on AT&T fixing its crap network instead of whining about the supposed 'design defects' of the iPhone.

Larger screen helps some users

I'm still dreaming of an iPad with a 13" or so screen. A lot of professionals might like such a machine... Reading and using technical documents on the job ... CADCAM drawings, technical manuals, troubleshooting documents... Full sized PDFs with highly detaile / technical content. Larger device, but still easy for a technician or engineer to take 'on the job' versus having to take a laptop.

My real dream is an iPad that is perfect size for reading music on! I do that already, and it works pretty well, but more complex music demands a somewhat larger and higher res screen... I think 13" would be just about right!

Jim

I'll buy it!,

iPad HD or iPad pro. Whatever they call it I'll buy it. It's all I have been waiting for and I suspect that apple knows this which is why it's a release out of schedule and only a upgrade to the existing line. This way it's not a iPad 3 and you can't pin them on releasing a major upgrade too soon. ;)

With that being said I'll completely contradict myself and say I hope the performance is upgraded as well to deal with the scene and aps like FCP as well as storage space. I don't see them adding peripherals ever as that is soon to be the only reason to get a MacBook air.
