Hmmm...don't want to get too political here, but is all the human rights and eco-friendliness touted to be a hallmark of TC's Apple just a bunch of rhetoric?

With what's happening now in HK, isn't it a bit ironic that Apple finally announces a release date for the iPhone in the country?

Or maybe they spin it so they are trying to put empowering products in the hands of the people??

Apologies for bringing in politics to the thread, but I thought it should be mentioned at least. I hope the protests are successful and end peacefully...

Stop complaining. I order my 6+ on 9/12 around noon and it's on its way to be delivered on this Thursday 10/2. That means most preorders on 9/12 are fulfilled

Lucky you, i also ordered mine on 9/12, but it still doesn't show that it will ship until at least 10/13... As for most ordering being fullfiled, i am not sure that means that most have been fullfilled, by my count the sales had only been open about 7 hours at noon (CST time), there was still 12 hours of selling time left that day...

Save some for the millions of people still waiting in the US!

Yeah... China better have a 3-4 weeks before shipping on the 6+

Same here! Ordered 9/12 8am, estimated delivery 10/13 - 10/26

So after the Chinese backdoor has been successfully patched in iOS 8.1, it is eligible to be sold in mainland China?

Introducing the new iPhone(home) 6 Minus (privacy)!

Seems we, for whatever reason were in line first. Lets say you get to a restaurant and are given a 3 hr wait and I walk in 3 minutes behind you and they take me right in, I'm sure that won't bother you at all??

You tell the hostess to go F herself and go to a different restaurant. You then go on Yelp and write a review.

It's so bloody difficult getting one in Australia. I wish they would push some of that stock our way!

Reserve one at midnight with apple. I picked up a 6 and 6+ last week. Got my 6+ on Tuesday and 6 Thursday . Was really easy

Because you have some sort of divine right that people in other countries don't?

You could have pre-ordered one, just like everyone else here in the States that got up and did it.

I'm actually waiting until 2016 to upgrade, lol. But really, apple should be better prepared for launches like this.

I am not sure where you are getting the news but what is happening in Hong Kong isn't some huge human rights issue. It is closer in scope to occupy Wall Street. While it is a core focus in Hong Kong right now, it is actually quite normal otherwise and life goes not. It isn't the second coming of Tianamen Square.

I am sure companies released new products during occupy Wall Street so it is really no different for iPhones being released in China.

I'm sure they'll be no wait, they can just walk right down the street to the factory's back door and pick theirs up.

Seriously???

Self determination is a basic human right? To what "scope" are you referring? Basically The Chinese gov't is saying, "You can choose from these couple of hand-picked and rubber stamped guys."

What if that happened for US President? The US gov't said, "We've carefully vetted theses two guys, they are your only choices on the ballot this time around - no more silliness with political parties, primaries, and all that useless crap."

This isn't about wealth distribution or undue corporate influence in gov't. It is about the right to self determination...and has a lot more in common with TS than OWS...

That's a bad example. A better one would start with your restaurant analogy and your 3 hour wait. Let's say it's a chain restaurant and someone goes to another location in a different list I'd town and gets seated immediately. Their being seated immediately is not related to the wait time at the restaurant you're in.

Wait i still don't have my 6 plus i preordered on the 12th yet and they are gonna launch in another country? Really?:apple:

I have an idea. How about they quit adding countries until they get all the people in America that pre-ordered their phone on 9/12 their phones.

To be fair, the phone is actually made in China. Apple probably also wants to avoid the perception of not caring about the rest of the world. By the way, if you want a phone on release day, just go to a store. Got my iPhone 6 64GB in less than an hour and a half.

I suppose they should just make a hundred million phones in a month?

Most of these people also didn't bother actually waiting in line, as the analogy says. They just pre-ordered. That's like phoning in your reservation and having to wait until next week, while people in line were able to just wait two hours and eventually be seated. Pre-orders don't have priority, Apple likes to save some stock for in-store sales as well. People willing to actually show up in person will always be the priority, since it helps sell other in-store products. For people buying the 6+, you knew the supply was limited before you bought it. Suck it up.

Heading to Beijing with a bunch of other folks who can't speak Mandarin to camp out and buy 2 phones each. In cash.

No not really, they have phones in stock at my local T-Mo store.

I'm sure they'll be no wait, they can just walk right down the street to the factory's back door and pick theirs up.

Not really. I have a an associate from Hefei who was visiting Chicago and insisted we go to one of the many apple stores here so he could stock up on iPads. We picked up a bundle. I didn't ask.

Or they can wait a couple extra months before launch and produce millions more?

So you'd prefer that everyone have to wait a couple of extra months, just so no one has to wait longer than anyone else? No thank you. I'll take my phone as soon as it is made, it's not doing me any good sitting in a warehouse.
