I love all of these air updates after it went so long being neglected in the past. I just wish they'd also update their MacBook and Mac mini.

Damn, my recently ordered macbook air is due to arrive today..
Does anyone know if I can return it and if this will cost me anything?

You have 14 days to return it without cost [If purchased from an Apple Store or Apple Online Store]. Sometimes Apple allow 30 days when a revised model is released - but this is not guaranteed the 14 days is however...

Send it back and then practice a little patience and wait for the impending refresh - Sandy Bridge & Thunderbolt will offer major improvements over current MBA performance and i/o throughput options.

I also agree - Great News!

yes! great news! and please bring back the backlit keyboard!

The MBA has completely changed the manner in which I work ... no more desktops and such a lightweight device, with 'heavyweight features' ... and even more on the way!! Just hope that the backlit keyboard returns (why I didn't purchase the latest refresh!)

How soon after a refresh do the refresh machines begin appearing in the refurb area of the store?

I'm looking to upgrade to a 13" ultimate once SB and TB are added, but am patient enough to wait a while to get it cheaper through the refurb store.

Hopefully sometime in the future, Apple will create an MBA with a detachable display that functions by itself as an iPad. Even if that doesn't happen, I'll still be all over this refresh if these rumors prove to be true.

Please let them add a SIM card slot

I have the cash sitting in the bank to buy an 11" MBA with Thunderbolt and my wish list would be complete if they add a SIM card slot so that I don't have to carry a separate 3G dongle or Mifi. 4Gb of RAM would be good but an 8Gb option would be stellar!!!

:D :D
I'd like a mini update for the B2S season as well. I'm aware that mini's are probably not eligible for the promotion, even though they really should, they could give a cheaper iPod model (nano or even shuffle would contend me) with it. If not, I may be tempted to buy a more expensive iMac because a better PC + an iPod is probably well worth the extra money. I'd really like that, come to think of it, but probably can't really afford it..

I'd love 8GB option too but I wouldnt bet on SIM card slot anytime soon, at least until LTE rolls out

I'm a proud 13.3" Air (maxed out) owner and if the new high end model that's being released only has thunderbolt and sandy bridge enhancements, I won't be buying. In fact, this will be the first time I havn't upgraded my Air to the latest one on release day! For me to buy, I would need backlit keys reintroduced also...

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8J2 Safari/6533.18.5)

Will save my money for next year upgrade with retina MBA ... My MBA is too new to get replaced now ...

I wonder if there'll be a Core i7 model? Now that would be superlative !

It is likely to be a low clocked i7 core due to the small TDP (Thermal Design Power) of just 17W. (For comparison: The current 13" macbook pro uses 25W and 35W processors, while the 15" and 17" models use processors of 45W TDP.)

I would image they would use one of these intel processors:
2537M, 17W, 1.4 GHz, 2.3/2.0 GHz turbo (i5)
or
2617M, 17W, 1.5 GHz, 2.6/2.3 GHz turbo (i7)
2657M, 17W, 1.6 GHz, 2.7/2.4 GHz turbo (i7, maybe for high end 13")

Although the 2010 models used processors with a TDP of only 10W for the 11" models. (Still 17W in the 13").

Now here is an upgrade I'm really curious to see! The current MBA is an excellent machine, only the CPU was a little weak but still excellent!

With the refresh the CPU should get much better although the GPU will be a little worse. I am wondering if they will be able to increase the battery a bit.

Now just add the backlit keyboard and it will be perfect.

Agreed!

There's the one thing keeping me from really sinking my teeth into a maxed out 13" Air. I've been waiting for TBolt and that darn backlit keyboard before making the jump.

We'll see in June. Otherwise, I think I could live with a 13" MBP.

Plz add HD FaceTime camera and backlit keyboard...... Oh wait apple has to leave something out for us to upgrade next yr

Thunderbolt on an MBA?

Thunderbolt on an MBA? Where would it fit? Would they have to take out a USB port to compensate? One reason they took out the Ethernet connection was so they could keep it thin*, and surely they'd have a similar issue with the Thunderbolt?

* the other reason being of course so they could get an additional 3600 yen from you when you bought a USB-Ethernet adaptor...

They will replace mini-displayport with thunderbolt. Thunderbolt uses the same connector as mdp and is backward compatible.

Seems as if Ivy Bridge will be when the quad-cores arrive. Unsurprising, considering the thermal envelope Apple has to keep themselves to (17W).
